Skostredet Hotel was a wonderful choice for our stay in Bergen. We had a family room, which consisted of two rooms, each with their own bathroom, with a shared entry way that had a locked door of its own. It was really well sound-proofed, the beds were comfortable, and the shades blacked out the light nicely. The climate control was nice.
My only complaints were the lack of counter space (but the larger room had a big ledge over the toilet) or towel racks/hooks in the bathroom, and the mini-bar mounted on the wall, since I'm a klutz and ran my shoulder into it a few times.
The service at the front desk was good. It was a little odd that I couldn't check in early, but was told I was guaranteed check-in at 3PM...which was in 15 minutes. Rather than wait, we just left our luggage in their storage room. We also left our luggage after check out all day the next day.
Breakfast was fantastic - an incredible array of choices, with a lot of different breads, spreads, some pastries, various yogurts, cereals/muesli, sliced meats, cheeses, smoked salmon/fish, eggs done 3-4 different ways, juices, non-dairy milks, gluten-free options, etc etc.
Bergen isn't huge, but the location was excellent - Skostredet Street behind the hotel is a pedestrian street with a bunch of restaurants (Hallaisen: excellent gelato; Fjak: delicious hot chocolate). The fish market and Fløibanen were a short walk away. Central train station and light rail stop to airport were also close.
Highly recommend!
