I want to start by saying that we have traveled extensively through Mexico and I have lived there, so we know that the hotels are not the same as what you would find in the U.S. We booked our room in Aug. (it was the last room available in the whole town) and paid in full upfront as required (+$1300 USD for 6 nights) In Nov., I started receiving texts and phone calls from the manager, Marietta, who explained that the person who used to be in charge didn't work there anymore and could I please send the payment again then ask for reimbursement from Paypal. I explained that if the money was "stolen" (as she described it), that I couldn't get the money back and that they needed to handle it on their end.
When we arrived, the first thing that Marietta asked about was payment. Again, we paid over $200 USD per night for the room. When we checked in, the room was very small - 10 ft x 15 ft with no closet, hooks, or storage. The shower drain was covered to help mitigate the very strong sewer smell that came up through it.
All of the towels and sheets were stained and ratty and weren't replaced daily. If we asked for clean towels, we were told that there "wasn't water" to wash them. The sheets were never changed.
We were treated rudely and referred openly to as "the ones with the payment problem". We later found out that we were grossly overcharged for the room that we received (Room 6). Nice location, San Pancho is beautiful, just beware of this hotel!
