I actually wondered if I were high paying £170 for a room here when I remembered upon check in.
Turned up to find no one on reception just a 'back in 5 minutes' sign. No one was back in five minutes so we checked ourselves in - they key was easily reached from the reception desk, so secure!
Hotel only tried to take the payment just before check in not at the time of booking, which was annoying for cashflow planning.
The room was horribly overpriced for the facilities - I couldn't even find a hairdryer, let alone a welcome pack, which would have been useful as no one was at check-in. I would expect more than a couple of packs of cheap biscuits; no water, welcome note, or fresh flowers, the bed was pretty uncomfortable, no air conditioning, just a cheap floor fan.
Very disappointing breakfast area which can only be described as looking like a big working mans club. £10 extra for breakfast on a nearly £200 room is ridiculous.
I barely ever leave reviews but I'm here to tell you; do not pay for premium rooms. This hotel does not feel premium and you'll leave regretting the cost. Especially true right now (Aug 24) as they're in the middle of building work and there is material stacked up all over the place.
Staff were excellent (morning reception, dining room).
