It was a newer hotel, nice amenities and close to the MBJ airport. Let’s start with the food: the Ackee buffet has a variety of food but reminds me more of a Golden Corral or worse as far as the quality offered. On the last night we tried Bamboo the Asian inspired restaurant and there was a roach on our table so we asked to be seated elsewhere and the waiter got an attitude like roaches were the norm and we shouldn’t ask to be reseated. The jerk hut on the beach chicken was good however you are very limited only a quarter chicken as they feed the other two riu properties. The minibar was not restocked as promised every two days. The beach itself was a disappointment very murky, lots of seaweed on the sand floor of the ocean and you can tell it was man made or dumped up. Overall customer service lacks when it comes to serving Black guests. It’s sad but you see them catering to white guests. I spoke to other guests and they shared the same feedback. A lot of the staff seem unhappy with their jobs, I assume they don’t get paid a living wage. To be honest I would not come back here, I’ve stayed at riu Negril before and it was a better experience! I’d personally stay at another chain altogether.

Overall I had a good stay at RIU Reggae and I can’t say enough about the customer service. Everyone went out of their way to check on us and make sure we had what we needed.
