The blinds were dirty, there was cobwebs with dead bugs on the window seal, the TV didn't work most of the time it kept freezing up , behind the microwave was dust with a dead bug on it, dead bolt didn't work on door barely had one lock to lock the door on a very outdated handle, one of the chairs that went with the table was all tore up and neither chair matched the other chair or table, ceiling fan had dust caked on it. I am very unhappy with this stay manager made excuses for the TV not working saying because it's not used often enough. They did offer to move to another room, but looked at it and it was smelly and it was too much to move all my things from upstairs.

Room was fine, parking was easy. Thin walls…had no one in the room next to me first two nights of my stay, third night had people next door and I could hear them snore and every move they made all night long.

The host was not present during our stay (didn’t see him/her at all), communicated with us the check in process by text only (will leave the room door unlocked and leave key and receipt in the room); I texted that our ETA was 2 pm, so I asked if they allow early check-in (check-in is supposed to be 3pm) and host texted back they open the door at 3pm, so we decided to kill time checking out Lake Isabella, then at 2:08pm we got a text that room was opened (what???); very impersonal. There are mini fridge and microwave hidden in the closet but no coffee maker. Glad that we always bring with us a small coffee maker on our trips. We know the building is rustic old, but they need to do repairs on walls that are disintegrating in the bathroom. Two things we really care about are security and cleanliness. There was no key provided for the deadbolt, only the bottom doorlock, which can easily be opened by a screw driver, so we brought our laptop with us in the car while we go around town. It felt safer to leave it in the car than in the room that we’re staying at. The room is clean but not to my standard as the floor seems to have not been mopped. To be fair, it has a very good location next to the Kern River, a big beautiful park is just across the street and restaurants and stores are just walking distances. If you’re just passing thru and need a place to stay/sleep for the night and don’t want to pay big bucks, this might be for you.

A good place to stay for a quick stay. Very close to a park and river. Stay was good for overnight. Small fridge and microwave in room. Clean but older building.

Riverview lodge is our happy place we absolutely love going there every year and look forward to going back! Owners are so kind and welcoming we always appreciate the hospitality and warmth they exude. Right in the center of town if you want to walk to dinner or walk to get a drink. Love kernville we look forward to being back again.

We loved the location; close proximity to most everything.Manager/owner was friendly and accommodating. The coffee was delicious, appreciated,and perfectly equipped with creamer, etc, however, it didn’t make up for more than a few things needing improvement inside the rooms. What we did not like was the condition of the room and bathroom. While cozy and the sheets, blanket, and towels were clean and nice and soft, what would have made our stay more pleasant and comfortable would be an updated toilet seat and faucet in the bathroom as well as some newer comfortable chairs to relax in. The ones there were old and uncomfortable-something a bit more reclining would be sufficient, or at least, newer. The main door was not sealed to the outside allowing air to escape causing the ac to work less efficiently. We also noticed some mold growth on the ceiling above the shower. I also took a towel and cleaned behind the door(found dust and dirt on it)and off of the baseboard in the bathroom for the next guest. If asked if we would stay here again as it stands, I would say no, we would not. However, we would be willing to pay more and stay again if the aforementioned improvements were made.
