The unit could have been cleaner. The overall appearance was a bit dirty. Baseboards needed cleaning and there was urine around the base of the toilet. The front desk attendant was also very rude to my husband when he asked a question.

The manager there, Sean seems to be a nice guy; however, he or their policy is pretty much a scam to travelers that have any changes in their flight schedules. If they will ignore outside calls most of the time. Even voicemails will not be recognized as communication. Emails or messages sent to them will be ignored. Don't try getting a partial refund because they will jack up the price to 3 times what you paid on here per night & insist that Expedia will pay or negotiate with them. They won't. Basically neither will take the blame. He will treat you as a paycheck until the moment (2hrs later) that you get off the phone with Expedia. Even if he knows it's for a special occasion & with your pregnant wife sitting there he will feel no obligation to reduce the price to what you paid before. We wouldn't have been there if it weren't for Expedia & so they use the site & situations to there advantage. Very scammy. Aside from that, you will need to take a taxi to all places at night (expect lots of $20-30 cash taxis for short rides). It's way up on the hill so not great for walking with a pregnant wife anyhow. Dangerous at night outside of the walls so be careful as well. The place looked okay, just be careful. I could tell it was not the first time they've done this. They actually were offering to put us in a room of a person that 'no showed' as in their flight probably got delayed they may of tried getting in contact but this place rarely answers the phone. Ignore most calls. GL

Hakiema is excellent. Very friendly and always a welcoming smile. I love this place and always stay here when I visit St. Thomas. Can’t wait to return.

I was not pleased by the ladies at the front desk. When I arrived, they did not ask if I’ve been there before or anything. As with other guests, (specifically other races), they gave them guides explained the process and how to get around the property. With me, I was piece milling everything together. In fact, they only told me about the $75 the morning I called to extend check out. (Again, wasn’t told of this process but that checkout was at 10). I wasn’t even aware of the food options, how to call a bell man or anything. With me being a content creator and knowing a lot of people - I cannot now recommend this property as I don’t want my friends and family lost or treated poorly by the front desk staff. Every time I’ve called to find out information, I was met with a nasty attitude as if I should have known or they should have told me when I arrived. No one told me anything! The island is gorgeous but find somewhere else to stay that’ll make you feel welcomed and honored to be a host. All the other staff were super pleasant including all my bellman.

I really liked the view. The room was pretty nice and clean. The grounds were a bit dirty with litter in the parking lot. The food at the restaurant was just ok. My wife got chicken wings and they were so touch you couldn't stab a fork into them. The bartender offered no compensation. But the staff was generally very nice. Oddly the cleaning staff were the friendliest and most willing to help. The driveway up the hill to BlueBears has many broken down vehicles, one up on blocks which gives a general feel of unsafe when you first get there.. but then you realize thats just how most places look off the beaten path. If I was the owner, I would not allow those broken vehicles on the path up to my building. But all in all, it was a decent, safe place to stay and the price was right, so we were okay with it.
