Great little Hotel
The Dunes is a great affordable option for Palm Springs. It’s centrally located with so many things a short walk away. The staff are fantastic - very welcoming and helpful. It has recently been renovated and looks wonderful - the bathroom is fantastic and clean but there are still some things that could make a guests stay a bit more comfortable/inviting. The air con is very very noisy and if your bed is next to it there is a constant breeze and freezing no matter what temperature is set. The ground floor rooms around the pool are very dark even with all the lights on. I wouldn’t recommend booking a room with two beds for four people - it really isn’t big enough.

Best decision for first time
Husband and I went the first weekend of March for my birthday. Great place to stay! It was our first time to Palm Springs, so the location worked out perfectly to downtown. The rooms are on the dark side, they lack natural light and the lamps aren’t the brightest.

Don’t stay here!
The front door had a one inch gap at the bottom, all the furniture was wobbly, could hear the people upstairs walking most of the night, the shower leaked because the sliding doors didn’t fit correctly.

Room was very nice inside. Different type of hotel, older style as rooms face parking lots. You can hear people whizzing by the door and it’s very noisy at times in the outside walkways. Not bad though for a one night stay very close to restaurants and shops

Just Okay
Hotel looks nice with the newish makeover. Clean and updated. Still just a really large motel and not architecturally interesting like some of the small MCM motels in PS. Negatives: Room wasn’t ready at 3:00 check in, and then when we were told it was ready we went upstairs to a housekeep still working in the room and had to wait outside on the balcony with our luggage for another 20 minutes until it was really finished. I’m also not a big fan of the key code door locks - it’s a pain. Granted that it’s a busy PS week with both Modernism and IBC going on, but still. It really feels like they’re still trying to figure it out at The Dunes. Hopefully they do.

Beautiful mid-century modern hotel
What a wonderful experience. The hotel has a mid century modern motel-style design, with with a lot of clean lines, flat planes, large glass windows, and a strong connection between the indoor and the outdoor spaces. We love the small touches like the 1950s style Frigidaire refrigerators in each of the rooms, the bright colored paint and wallpaper, and the Kohler plumbing fixtures in the sink and shower. The staff were incredibly friendly and provided us with a lot of good recommendations for food in the area. Free-on-site parking is plentiful and you’re just about a block away from all of the main downtown businesses, restaurants, and bars. I highly recommend this hotel and will be staying here again when we’re back in Palm Springs.
