I’ve wanted to experience a capsule hotel since I first heard about them when I was in middle school, so when I booked my first trip to Japan I made sure to find one.
This capsule hotel is admittedly a little touristy and leans into the gimmick more than being an authentic experience—I mean let’s face it: the name is Ninja and Geisha, the two Japanese words that any tourist knows.
That being said, it still was a great experience! It was so clean and comfortable and very easy to check in. The location is very conveniently by the train station making it ideal for a quick overnight stay while traveling. The check in and lounge area has a very cheesy, almost Disney-esque, level of theming, but ya know what? I love it. It was very well done.
They are also very accommodating; when I made my booking I requested either a blue or red pod and they responded immediately that it would be guaranteed for me. And sure enough, it was!
If you have difficulty climbing, I’d recommend asking for a lower pod because the little metal ladder on the side is pretty difficult to swing yourself over if you’re not too nimble.
