We checked in Hotel Voltaire Opera Nantes Centre on 5 May and checked out on 7 May for our onward travel to Paris. We were in room number 114 on the first floor. On 6 May, we left the hotel at 8:30 am and came back to the room at 10:30 pm (after dinner). As soon as we returned to the room, I realized that my laptop which I kept in the closet was missing. We checked all our bags thoroughly and then promptly reported the theft to the front desk. The two boys on the night duty immediately called the owner, who confirmed that he will check with the housekeeping staff and then will report the matter to the police. At around midnight, the two boys from the front desk came to our room with a devise to retrieve the access card information from the door lock. They also informed me that there is a CCTV only on the ground floor and the access to the CCTV footage is only with the owner.
Next morning, I met the wife of the owner and enquired about how can they help in finding my laptop. I also asked for the room access and the CCTV information. She informed me that other than the housekeeping staff, her husband accessed the room and he gave access to the repairs contractors in our absence.
I was absolutely shocked to learn that the folks accessed our room without our permission. The owners did not share the CCTV footage with us.
