Average Central Hotel

Decent place to stay central to Encinitas - a lot of good coffee shops / restaurants in the area. A bit of an older building with limited parking. The rooms are very basic, but not terrible. They are a bit cheaper / night, but charge additional fees for extra towels / room service. They will also charge if you lose a room key. Good location with friendly staff, but just OK overall.

Great stay!

Check in was easy, the staff were wonderful! The room was clean. There were spots on the ceiling in the bathroom and chips in the tub, but they are renovating the hotel and hadn’t gotten to our room yet. The only complaint I would have is that the mattress felt worn out and wasn’t very comfortable. It was super close to dining, shopping, and the beach. The grounds are very well kept and there are beautiful plants everywhere. Parking is a bit tight, but we parked towards the front of the lot and was fine. 10/10 would recommend for a budget friendly stay!

Happy stay

The hotel is a great place. The lady at the front desk is absolutely adorable. They’re in the middle of renovations and the hotel will be a beautiful place to stay once they’re done. Only a couple of things that I should point out that would be helpful for them is I complained about the water being looped warm And the response I got from the lady out front was because of the workers there not feeding her correct information I’m a handyman at home so I remedied the hot water issue in the shower and now it’s great. The only other thing I felt strange about was I’ve left my key card in the room and asked for an additional key card and was told that it would cost me $20 if the key card was not returned to the front desk I’ve never stayed in a hotel that’s asked for the key cards back The other things there could be made better is the shower is a little slippery for old people like myself and should probably have some type of a rubber mat put down for us. The other thing was that the shower did not have anywhere to put the bar of soap or the shampoo and there construction people need to figure out how to remedy that situation. The shower also leaked water on the backside of the glass because the glass was improperly installed and so it’s not sealed correctly. These are constructive things not complaints my stay there was absolutely wonderful and I would be more than happy to recommend or go back to the place again.

Stay here.

Do not let the humble appearance and the reasonable price fool you. This place is a gem. It’s a little older, but well taken care of and they are currently upgrading the rooms. Impeccably clean. Well managed and run by nice and friendly staff. It’s walking distance to the beach and a plethora of dining and entertainment venues. I will absolutely stay here again.

Probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Check in was rocky, no one was at the counter around 5 when I arrived and had to wait 15 minutes or so before I got the idea to call the office phone. Then a girl came out to check me in but acted like I was the biggest inconvenience. Room was just OK, I could only find 2 light switches that worked, not including the bathroom light. The tub was grimy, and one of the towels they gave me was still totally dirty. I did not have a do not disturb sign in my room (when I could see other rooms got one) so I had to tape my own to the door to let housekeeping know not to come in. Whenever I passed an employee, maintenance worker, or other guest, they gave me dirty looks. The vibe was just off here.

All Good!

Very comfortable room. Great staff upon checking in. Ample parking on site. The highway in the area was under major reconstruction, which added some inconvenience, and finding parking at the many nearby establishments was nearly impossible.

Badly disappointed.

I was not given a king bed but rather 2 queens-Rm225 N side. One mattress had a 5-6 inch patch of dried blood on one side (photo) and the other mattress near window had vomit stain 7-8 inches (Photo). Not even coffee here. Charged $4.50 cleaning charge up from $2.00 Yikes while remodeling going on. Guess paying for remodeling.

Basic Room with some issues

The 1st picture that Hotels.com shows is misleading. There are no stairs to the Beach off of the property. That was disappointing. You can walk to the beach, but its a good 15 minute walk . Springs on the bed were so noisy every time you move. The light and plugs between the beds didn't work at all. They were doing remodeling work during the day which wasn't bad but at 1 to 4 in the morning some sort of machine was going around the hotel, and it was very, very loud, no way to sleep through that. Not sure what was the issue with the mini fridge, but Milk and drinks were slushees on the very lowest setting. Basic room, clean.

DON'T DO IT! FILTHY, BED BUGS, HIDDEN FEES

Most disgusting hotel room I ever encountered. Stayed here yrs ago, made mistake of not checking reviews again this time. Room was absolutely filthy. Even worse, came home with what most likely are BED BUG BITES and now have to get costly exterminator. -When entering room we immediately noticed that carpet was dirty. Upon closer look it looked like room had not been cleaned. This list is not complete but some of the worst things: -Disgusting carpet, did not dare to walk barefoot. -Pieces of food under table. -Empty liquor bottle behind nightstand which they had been pulled out. -Gross bathroom. Hair (incl. pubic hair, ugh) all over floor, shower, toilet. Mold & other dirt in corners. Thick mold along edges of sink. -Lamps rusty around switches; lampshade torn, even there we found hair. -Torn bedspread & curtain. -Ceiling fan w. heavy dust layer, afraid to use in fear of getting covered in dust; top of headboard also thick coat of dust. -Filthy boxspring covers. -Lastly, and this would be laughable if all this wasn’t so upsetting, they charged $4.50 “cleaning fee” not disclosed at booking. They ultimately refunded after complaints about filth. -Note there is construction. Notice in lobby advises hotel may shut off water & electricity; guests can move to another room or hotel at their own expense. Not disclosed during booking. -If you don’t care about filth, bed bugs, hidden charges, this is the place for you. Otherwise be kind to yourself and stay anywhere else.
