My stay
The room was too dark. The bathroom and shower tub were both clogged and the bath was dirty. Also the toilet seat and top were dirty. There was a weird smell when we entered the room for the first time.

The hotel was beautiful and clean. Pillows were so lush. However, the bed was hard. And the heater would not work. They did send maintenance but it still was not correctly functioning. Other than that the overall was great

Bel hôtel, bien situé !
A l’arrivée, accueil efficace mais froid et peu chaleureux et service de bagagerie inexistant. En cours de séjour le personnel du bar et des petits déjeuners s’est révélé très sympathique et accueillant. L’hôtel est très bien situé et l’immeuble est magnifique et plein de charme.

a short but great stay
Our stay was too short! we loved it so much that we decided that this place will be our go to when we travel to the Houston, TX area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed their in-room dining option for dinner, which was hot and delicious! The morning of our departure, we ordered off the menu for breakfast and it was very tasty. Unfortunately, we missed out on the complimentary cookies the night before since we were out, although we appreciate the amenity! We will definitely be back to enjoy more of their facilities.

Valet service was too expensive. Extra blankets never delivered. Climate control slow to change room temps. Bar is very sparse and noisy, it doesn’t feel as cozy as other hotel bars. Probably won’t stay again if given other options.

My Stay at The Magnolia
The property is beautiful. My room was not the room requested. . I requested a king and received a double queen. The room had a foul order on entry. I decided since I was here one night, was not to worry the staff and change rooms. Loved the free breakfast.

Shockingly understaffed and poor service
I arrived at 6:00 during the artic blast and waited in the valet area for someone to get my car and could see them standing inside the door, I began thinking I was in wrong spot so I circled the block and there was no other valet spot so I waited another 20 minutes and finally struggled to get my bags out and haul them in myself. The front desk called over the valet and he said he thought I was an uber driver waiting on someone - even when he saw me struggling to get my bags. The desk manager then suggested I park myself in the self park on the other side of the building and finally gave my key to the valet when I refused to do that -- I had to carry 4 bags up to my room by myself. Finally got in room at 7:30 and was charged like $54 for the Valet! When I got to room the ice machine was not working on floor 13. I just gave up at that point. Each time I called front desk for ice or anything else - no one answered. Very short staffed and it shows. They shouldn't be charging twice as much as comparable hotels if they cannot get it together.

Lovely hotel in Downtown, bar reception staff
We stayed for 5 nights recently at the Magnolia Hotel Houston Upon arrival, the receptionist at the desk could not find my booking with Hotels.com in their system - fortunately I had brought a printed copy of my reservation and previously corresponded with her prior to arrival - in the end she honoured my booking and price quoted via Hotels.com. We were given a room/ suite on the 18th floor with a nice view and spacious lviing & bedroom space. It was clean and room was serviced daily. Hotel is very central and close to all major Downtown sights and metro station to museum district. Rooftop pool and views from there were breathtaking. Breakfast was included and the restaurant staff (especially Jackie) were amazing. On the day of check out, we were locked out of our room after coming back to collect our bags despite specifically asking for late check out. We asked the male receptionist who was there to book us a taxi which didn't arive after 30 mins and after rechecking with him - turns out the taxi was not called in the 1st place. Fortunately as we insisted on rechecking a second call was made and we got to the airport in time to board our return flight to the UK. Overall this is a good hotel though slightly dated but reception staff need to be better trained and more vigilant - this aspect ruined slightly an otherwise lovely stay - 8 out 10 is a fair grading (or 7.5 to be more exact)
