Valet service was too expensive. Extra blankets never delivered. Climate control slow to change room temps. Bar is very sparse and noisy, it doesn’t feel as cozy as other hotel bars. Probably won’t stay again if given other options.

My Stay at The Magnolia
The property is beautiful. My room was not the room requested. . I requested a king and received a double queen. The room had a foul order on entry. I decided since I was here one night, was not to worry the staff and change rooms. Loved the free breakfast.

Shockingly understaffed and poor service
I arrived at 6:00 during the artic blast and waited in the valet area for someone to get my car and could see them standing inside the door, I began thinking I was in wrong spot so I circled the block and there was no other valet spot so I waited another 20 minutes and finally struggled to get my bags out and haul them in myself. The front desk called over the valet and he said he thought I was an uber driver waiting on someone - even when he saw me struggling to get my bags. The desk manager then suggested I park myself in the self park on the other side of the building and finally gave my key to the valet when I refused to do that -- I had to carry 4 bags up to my room by myself. Finally got in room at 7:30 and was charged like $54 for the Valet! When I got to room the ice machine was not working on floor 13. I just gave up at that point. Each time I called front desk for ice or anything else - no one answered. Very short staffed and it shows. They shouldn't be charging twice as much as comparable hotels if they cannot get it together.

Lovely hotel in Downtown, bar reception staff
We stayed for 5 nights recently at the Magnolia Hotel Houston Upon arrival, the receptionist at the desk could not find my booking with Hotels.com in their system - fortunately I had brought a printed copy of my reservation and previously corresponded with her prior to arrival - in the end she honoured my booking and price quoted via Hotels.com. We were given a room/ suite on the 18th floor with a nice view and spacious lviing & bedroom space. It was clean and room was serviced daily. Hotel is very central and close to all major Downtown sights and metro station to museum district. Rooftop pool and views from there were breathtaking. Breakfast was included and the restaurant staff (especially Jackie) were amazing. On the day of check out, we were locked out of our room after coming back to collect our bags despite specifically asking for late check out. We asked the male receptionist who was there to book us a taxi which didn't arive after 30 mins and after rechecking with him - turns out the taxi was not called in the 1st place. Fortunately as we insisted on rechecking a second call was made and we got to the airport in time to board our return flight to the UK. Overall this is a good hotel though slightly dated but reception staff need to be better trained and more vigilant - this aspect ruined slightly an otherwise lovely stay - 8 out 10 is a fair grading (or 7.5 to be more exact)

The Magnolia
The location of the hotel was great for us. Walking distance to the train that took us directly to the stadium. In the heart of restaurants and bars. The hotel itself needs The hotel needs some work. It has a slight odor (musky). The elevator lights that let you know that the elevator is there were not working. The toilet in the room was slow to drain. The restroom in the common area (near the 2nd floor restaurant) did NOT flush. This was the handicap stall. None of the staff were aware if the train was working on this game day. The hotel did not appear to be full in any way. Very few people rummaging around. The room that was given to us was located on the 19th floor. The view was facing a wall. No street view whatsoever. The staff were nice. We had breakfast and it was satisfactory. Would have liked to have had an omelet station. The bar area was spacious and the staff there were very friendly. For the price, location and the fact that we were only there for one night it's not a bad place to stay.

Perfect for a mother-daughter weekend getaway!
We had the most wonderful experience at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston during our mother-daughter weekend! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The hotel itself is stunning, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our room was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. While the rooftop pool is on the smaller side, the hot tub was a delightful bonus. The stunning city views made it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The hotel’s convenient downtown location also made it so easy to enjoy all the best Houston has to offer. The staff’s attention to detail truly made our stay unforgettable. They were friendly, accommodating, and made us feel so welcome. This weekend was all about creating special memories with my daughter, and the Magnolia Hotel provided a space where we felt pampered and safe. The 8 pm milk and cookies were such a charming touch—my daughter and I both loved it! We can’t wait to return for another stay. I highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Houston!
