We had not stayed in this resort for 22 years and I know there were many changes over the years. Overall we found it to be an "OK" experience. The employees were helpful and gracious but if you are not wanting to join their Club or membership programs, you have to be FIRM with those people. They repeatedly would stop us to sit through the sales program and we were just there to relax. There were a few things I thought odd: You could not have any alcohol prior to 11:00 AM. Not a Bloody Mary, Mimosa or Bailey's in your coffee. They did not have Guacamole and chips in the snack bar or at any buffet. They did not have breakfast sausage but if you covertly asked your server, they would provide bacon...but it's not a menu or buffet item. The air conditioning grill blew down on the beds and froze us out and then when we turn the temp up....we were sweaty. Just a bad placement. Finally if you are disabled, the ramps are very steep and few and far between. You will need an able-bodied soul to assist. I must sound like a "Karen" but I just want people to be aware of a few things that are important to us as travelers. Pictures from room 1522 window.

Hotel was “sold out”
I had a confirmed reservation for Royal Solaris with a lagoon view. At checkin I was told they “oversold” and would love me to GR SOLARIS with an “upgraded” room. They shuttle us to the next hotel to find out that our upgraded room is a view of another hotel. I asked the front desk for the upgrade we were promised and the supervisor Anakaren said they have nothing available but we were welcome to go back to the original hotel if we wanted. The hotel that was oversold and has no rooms. Very disappointed with the service— no one here seems to care. I would NOT book here unless your ready to deal with unexpected changes and lies.

Poor condition hotel
Water started to leak from the roof of the room we booked. Called reception and maintenance and no one took action. Also water was leaking from various roof ceilings of the entire hotel restaurants and lobby.

My partner was hurt on the property with only being on the resort for 3 hours. The Resort never told us there was a Dr. on the property. After 24hrs. in pain and several trips & concerns about the injury, the front desk sent us to the Dr. At first they were not going to pay for the visit but with my demands for them to pay for it they did. The Resort finally fixed the area where the accident happened after a day but refused to do anything else for my friend. After many more meetings and 3 days later with the managers, they offered to send us back to the Dr. which he suggested we go to the hospital for an X-ray. That was only if we sign a paper that we wouldn’t bad talk the resort and th we release them of any wrongdoing. He refused because we were leaving the next morning and could go to an American hospital. Our issue is the resort never checked on him after the accident. They should have sent him to the Dr. immediately. Never asked if we needed a wheelchair, room service for food etc. because the injury was his foot. He couldn’t go in the pool, to the beach or anywhere because the resort was of no help. They did offer to pay for a dinner(food was included in the package) or a free ride to the airport. What an insult. What can Expedia do about this?

We really enjoyed our stay. Giovanni was master behind the bar and the staff kept every area of the hotel clean! Food was good, especially Marco Polo, and the pool was amazing. Beach location was perfect. Not a long ride from the airport, highly recommend!

The staff were great and kind. The front desk was accommodating, and informative. The timeshare people were pushy, even when we attended the presentation, we had people still asking us to attend it. The property itself is outdated, they need new poolside loungers, they were so dirty and gross.
Our room was also dirty. The bed sheets were itchy and we even found sand on our sheets. We also found what looked to be a booger on the curtain, it was absolutely disgusting, there was a hair in it and everything. Our jacuzzi was also disgusting, looked like it wasn't cleaned at all, we didn't even end up using it.
Food was good, wish there was more a variety, but nonetheless it was still good. The snackbar was good, especially the pizza.
The cups at the bars we so dirty, we watched the bar staff just dump the used dirty cups into a bucket of soapy water then rinse it.
The activities were great, loved the entertainment.

Royal Solaris was average as there was limited dining, the food options were the same daily, the kid’s club was under construction, and the activities weren’t as engaging. The time share personnel was pushy, behind us every time they saw us, and made us feel uncomfortable. The personnel at the front desk were unprofessional (they wanted to charge us twice, rude). We were pressured to participate in a collective presentation that lasted 3 hours when they initially said it would be 90 minutes. We declined the offer at least four times and had to justify our decision. The best part were the cooks, servers, and bartenders.

Very poor choice of food selection compared to other resorts in the area we have visited. Further a lot of the facilities were closed regularly. The kids club was closed 3 out of the 5 days we were there. Other facilities failed to open on time regularly as well. Additionally the entertainment at night was very sub par compared to other resorts in the area.
