I thought I scored a great deal in securing the Red Roof Inn. But they had the last laugh.
There was blood on the door in the bathroom... Dark, black mold above the coffee maker, the floor had not even been swept, let alone mopped and so I walked around with shoes on.
The ceiling above the door had water damage and there was a spot that had dried, but used to be wet.
And there were literally barking dogs, crying babies, and women talking loudly on their cell phones in the hallway, after 11 pm, as I am trying and praying to fall asleep.
The next morning, I asked the managers to the room to show them, and asked for a discount because of the awful condition.
They apologized, explained they were remodeling, and offered a 10% discount. Which was far less than I paid through hotels.com.
Additionally, though they offer a shuttle service from the airport, I did not realize that the shuttle ended at 11 pm, so I was unable to get a ride from the airport and spend an additional $35 on a taxi.
