This was a very upsetting situation. When I booked this hotel it was rated an 8 (not a 5). The price was very good, the view was very nice, the bed was comfortable (had my own pillow), air condition worked, TV worked. the rest of the room was awful.
The wall and ceiling paint was peeling badly, the bathroom tiles had many broken with the shower tile having a hole (I put a towel in it), the molding was broken, the carpet had stains, the sliding glass door to the balcony came off the track (husband had to fix it). What made us leave were the ants in the kitchen area. I didn't see them when we first walked in and had a bag of some groceries and the ants came out. I moved it to a chair and left the next day.
The other hotels in our vacation were nice. Days Inn Wyndham, Hilton Gardens (we got this one on our own), the Hyatt were all in the 8-10 range.
By the way .. they were closing down the hotel this week per the attendant.
Thanks for listening.
