Not so good
Not so good experience, it was the worst but not great as at all. The food wasn’t ready on time in the lobby section. The fridge was off when we arrived and didn’t know so our drinks were hot the first day. The cleaning staff took forever. We stayed out of room from 9am until 2pm and our room still wasn’t made up. The staff was always missing from front desk. The people next to us were loud and singing and 10pm.

OK Stay
This used to be our “go-to” hotel when staying in San Diego. It’s within walking distance of historic Old Town (with its shops and many restaurants) and a short drive to other fun spots (like the San Diego Zoo and Seaport Village). The check-in staff have always been very engaging and outgoing but the early morning staff (we normally leave during the 5 a.m. hour) are not (although cordial). The housekeeping staff is also very pleasant. During our staff a little over a week ago we were sad to see that the water fountain was no be longer running in the courtyard (possibly because it appeared that some new artificial turf had recently been laid)-it normally adds such charm to the hotel. We were really dismayed at the mildew in the grout of our shower (I took pictures and video). I wondered how it got that way especially if most rooms get daily cleaning. There was also a mildly damp smell on the other side of our studio room (not strong enough to ask for another room but noticeable). We really used to live staying here, and although I won’t totally rule out coming back, will probably investigate staying at another property for our next visit.

Post-Christmas Getaway
The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained; the room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast foods offered differed from day to day and each day a variety to select from, very tasty, warm foods kept warm and cold foods refrigerated. Wonderful breakfast. Cookies and hot cocoa were offered from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily and were a great treat to look forward to after being out wandering the city all day. We arrived early at the hotel on Thursday December 26 and were greated warmly by Eduardo who allowed us to check in early which we so appreciated. We were also given complimentary garage parking because of the ongoing construction surrounding the hotel, we also so appreciated this gift to us. Eduardo was most helpful, courteous and friendly as was Jovanna who we spoke with at the front desk to check out on December 28. I had many questions regarding our final bill and Jovanna was very helpful, friendly and courteous; she adequately explained and confirmed to us the process of checking out, what was charged or not to be charged, something very important to us as we had experienced a few "checkout surprise charges" at other hotels around the country. We also struck up a very short conversation with Anita who was taking care of the breakfast foods as well as cleaning tables and greeting customers, a very hard-working friendly & gracious woman. We will definitely be returning to the Fairfield Inn & Suites in the very near future as we travel to San Diego often.

Great for access to Old Town, airport and Rt. 5.
Christmas Eve arrival. Easy check-in. $30 parking, so we did street parking. Not many open spots on the street Cute complex which is set up with lighted courtyards with lots of seating and nice view from most rooms. Not of hassle extending stay a day because I booked thru a 3rd party.
