Great place to stay!
The inside of this hotel is gorgeous. Very cozy and well maintained! Punya was especially helpful, he made sure we had everything we needed and he was fun to talk to! The room itself was clean and cute, the window opened up over a busy street of course, so we just had that closed to keep noise down. The beds are so soft and the bathroom was spacious and well stocked!

Beautiful but a bit noisy at nite
I really liked this hotel. It was clean, staff friendly, and the room was high quality compared to other places I've stayed in the area for similar prices. The noise outside was a pretty big factor though. Music playing outside my window until well past midnite. They provided earplugs. I'm a heavy sleeper so I slept just fine. But i could see a more sensitive sleeper having a very bad night. Like most of downtown SF derelicts all around but this block seemed particularly vibrant. I know homeless people are harmless so it didn't bother me but I could see others feeling unsafe wanting an uber to pull right up to the door of this hotel after dark. A very quaint, totally lovely hotel otherwise. Both one of my favorites due to how quality the hotel itself is, mixed with a bit of a concern because the neighborhood seems to affect this place more than others (particularly with the noise -- a full-on street party going on outside my window kind of thing).

Meh
Decent hotel. More of a motel vibe. The «Continental breakfast» is a joke. Coffee, yoghurt and muffins. Don’t be fooled. Also, addicts and homeless sleeping on the street outside the main entrance.

I think my star rating of 4 was generous because even though there were aspects of this hotel that were amazing, the location and noise factor make it uncomfortable. The staff were absolutely amazing; friendly, helpful, and very cheerful. I loved the look of the hotel; with high end and thoughtful décor, I felt like I was in a 1920's speakeasy. The room was spacious and accommodating, although the bed was a bit squeaky and not so comfortable. I also would have really liked a small refrigerator to keep my beverages cold. Now for the not so good, and not the fault of Hotel Bijou. It was recommended that I stay in the Union Square district, which I put in my search criteria on Hotels.com. Hotel Bijou came up as an option, and the cuteness factor drew me in. What I did not realize is that it is in the Tenderloin district, which gets extremely loud and a bit sketchy at night. The hotel does not have AC, so I had to open a window to get some cold air, and this was in February. People yelled and screamed until 2:30 in the morning. Which is guess the complementary ear plugs were a good indication of what was to come. I also do not recommend walking outside passed dark. So even though this was not a great location, the hotel's cuteness and friendly staff were enough to still leave a high rating.

Location is a little close to the Loin, but i felt like it was the very last street of it, or the first one outside of it. I attended two events that i could walk to and never once did i feel unsafe. Homeless people in downtown areas come with the territory. I was only disappointed they didn't have a functioning bar/restaurant, as my plans were to not really go anywhere. The staff were top notch and Chris really knows how to lay the hospitality on thick. As a hotelier myself, customer service goes above and beyond anything else a property can offer.

Friendly staff
Staff was super friendly and they were friendly also to our 8yrs child. Room was ok, beds were great, maybe two adults in one bed would have been little cramped. Hotel were near centrum. There were some music and voices from the street at evenings, but nights were calm. Coffee was good. Breakfast was light, as they said in the first place. There was luggage storage which helped a lot when we arrived too early in the hotel.

Hotell med bra läge för shopping
Man får vad man betalar för! Vi fick ett hotellrum till rimligt pris men det var trångt för en familj med två vuxna, två barn och packning för en längre resa! Badrummet var rymligt. Rumsfönstret vette ut mot gatan och var inte välisolerat. Ljud och cannabisdoft trängde upp i rummet även om hotellet gjort sitt bästa genom att erbjuda öronproppar och ”white noise”-maskin. I direkt anslutning till hotellet samlades hemlösa vilket skapade oro hos barnen. Hotellentrén är dock låst hela dygnet och gästerna får en kod att använda för att ta sig in därför kändes det tryggt inne på hotellet! Läget, med närhet till Union square och shopping var toppen! Hållplatsen för hop-on-hop-off-bussen fanns nära och det var även nära till biluthyrning och restauranger! Hotellet erbjöd ”frukost” men det var i allra minsta laget och bestod av yoghurt, frukt, muffins och kaffe. Vi åt istället på en diner i närheten.

A great gamble
This was a long shot. Booking it on the plane while taxiing to the terminal. Kinda sketchy area but the place itself is lovely, the staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. Room was small but very comfortable and very clean.
