I stayed at The Leta for a solo birthday trip. The hotel has a mid century modern design with an old school station wagon parked out front. When I arrived, the check-in line was literally out the door (I came during a time when one of the towns annual events was being held). Despite that, the check-in process was still smooth. The manager gave me a complimentary bottle of champagne for my bday. The cocktails and food at the on-site restaurant was delicious. I ate there a few times, LOL. Both the restaurant staff and hotel staff were friendly and helpful; they gave me suggestions on what to see and do while in Santa Barbara. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I would stay there again.

Very frustrating visit

Apparently many Hiltons had problems that weekend with room keys. Everyone had to wait to be let into their room every time they left the room. They handled that fairly well although at times we waited 10 minutes to get in. They, however, didn’t have the two rooms we booked weeks in advance. They tried to put 3 adults in a room with one king bed. They ended up putting 2 of us in room 204. Do not let them do this to you. Run away. It has a pull out bed that was the worst bed I’ve ever slept on. Once I got in I couldn’t get out. They should just go throw it in the dumpster. I don’t believe they didn’t have another room. It was so bad we got no sleep. Seemed like a nice hotel otherwise but that was ridiculous. I think they gave us a crappy room because we booked through hotels.com. Wouldn’t have found the hotel otherwise though. Also, it is a pet friendly hotel. There were pets everywhere. The regular room we got had a hole in the platform bed that the cat got into. Then we couldn’t get it out. Very frustrating. We had to have maintenance come help us. They were very nice but this seems like something that could be avoided.

Good Hotel, Just Needs Better Event Management

hotel was nice, relaxing, and dog-friendly. The bar was a great spot, especially with the fire pits, and the staff was welcoming. The only drawback was one bar being closed for a private event, and when it ended the guests were loud and disruptive. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay and a good place to relax

Seems to be in decline

This was our second time staying here (first was two years ago). The property has definitely declined in terms of maintenance and cleanliness over the last two years. And the walls are unbelievably thin. If you stay here, pray you don’t have noisy neighbors!

Only ok- went downhill since first stay

This was the second time we stayed here and it was not nearly as good. The beds are comfy, pillows are good, window shades do their job. But the air conditioning is terrible. It was so so hot. The hotel prevents the thermostat from going below 68, but it was not 68 in the room. It got hotter and hotter at night- my husband thinks the motion sensor in the room turns it off when there isn't movement. The faucet and handles in the bathroom sink were in need of replacement- they were totally corroded and looked gross. The hotel rooms need some improvements. Lobby area and restaurant are good, service in restaurant could be quicker.
