Great Location, basic hotel
The location for the Tropicana is great, steps to some great restaurants and beach clubs. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the staff is friendly enough. The beds were comfortable, and hot water was never an issue. One thing that does not work is wifi. If you require it on your stay, this is not the place to book. The "resort and/or cleaing fee" charged at check in is also a bit of an overcharge. Just include it in the price, or don't expect a tip at the end of the stay. I'm not sure what this fee is supposed to be for, no one could actually give a consistent explanation for it. It was either a tax, a cleaning fee, or resort user fee.

Staycation Approved
The hotel was very comfortable for our Halloween staycation. The room was big and clean with clean and serviceable linens. We had a nice ocean view with a balcony to sit and listen to the waves. The common areas were well maintained and presentable for the most part but the pool that was opened definitely needed some TLC which seems to be planned with one pool closed for renovations. There were excessive missing tiles and the pool seemed to get very murky as the day went on. Hoping to stay again next year to see the upgrades.

Decent hotel on the beach
An ok hotel with nice pool and beach. Happy hour 6 to 8pm. We like the pet turtles in the fountain. Everyone friendly except Gali behind the bar in the morning who made it an ordeal to get ice for my beer, and kept demanding propina - not cool. We think the other bartenders straightened him out. Pool restaurant bar reasonably priced. No ice machine, no fridge in the room. All sorts of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance close to hotel - no need for rental car or taxi. Overall not bad for older less upscale cheaper hotel.

HOTEL EN REMODELACIÓN
La reservación que hicimos fue para habitación con cama King Size, nos dieron una habitación con dos camas matrimoniales, bajamos a comentarles y nos dijeron que hasta el día siguiente con el otro turno, porque no tenían habitaciones disponibles, aunque se les comentó que la reserva que se había hecho era para cama King Size. Al día siguiente tuvimos que dejar nuestras maletas en recepción, porque aún la habitación no estaba lista a mediodía y teníamos que salir… La ALBERCA está en REMODELACIÓN. No hay suficiente estacionamiento, nos tocó PAGAR ESTACIONAMIENTO PRIVADO una noche. Por todos lados del hotel hay REMODELACIONES, las cuales definitivamente si le hace falta, está ya viejo, hay todo el día ruido y polvo derivado de esto mismo. La llave de la habitación se desprogramó. La verdad que en esta ocasión, fue DECEPCIONANTE el trato del personal y lo descuidado que tiene sus instalaciones.

Nos gusta mucho a mi esposa y a mi, es la 2da vez que nos hospedamos y volveremos por una 3ra …. Nos encanta la zona en la que está ubicado el hotel , la zona romántica, el viejo Vallarta ! El servicio en general está perfecto , nuestra habitación siempre limpia , y el personal siempre Muy amable y servicial!! Al Igual que las albercas siempre limpias !!

Still a great deal
The lower pool is being completely re-done, which is a good thing, but there was considerable noise and dust that interfered with a relaxing time by the pool. Otherwise, it was a great stay again. Kudos to the staff: housekeeping, pool attendants (♥️ the towel lady), restaurant servers, bartender were all friendly and welcoming. Thanks 🙏 for a nice stay.

La ubicación y la playa son excelentes, solo faltaría mejorar un poco la atención a clientes, nos tocó un día lluvioso y queríamos usar la alberca pero no podíamos dejar nuestras cosas en los camastros porque se iban a mojar, quisimos dejar las cosas en el restaurante que está a un lado y no nos dejaron, entiendo que no se pueda regularmente pero era por un momento y una ocasión especial, también comentar que los precios de las bebidas son muy excesivamente caros, una cerveza costaba $80, una piña colada $175.
