When I arrived there was a man in the lobby (looking disheveled, drunk, and no indication he was a guest at the hotel) . He was sitting in the chair near the computer in the common area of the lobby with his hand in his unbuttoned pants. I will let you make your own conclusion on that.
He startled me because I did not notice him when I came in the door and there wasn't anyone manning the front desk. I was pretty nervous about when this man approached me as I was alone. Thankfully my service dog was with me, because he made me uncomfortable and nervous given his condition and demeanor.
I rang the lobby "bell" and the attendant came out from a back office promptly. I asked if he knew this man and if he was a guest, and the front desk man shrugged and said he didn't know. I explained what I witnessed and he did not care and just proceeded to check me in. That was my welcome experience.
The attendant's native accent was very strong and it was difficult to understand him. Otherwise, he was very polite.
This property is a motel at best. No amenities and thin, rough towels. I booked last minute as there were no other hotels available because it was a big weekend in Madison. The price was equivalent to a Hilton or Marriott ($$$) which was not commensurate given the quality of this property.
