There is definitely promise and if the hotel management heeds some of the advice, I could definitely see us giving the hotel 5 stars next time.
Check-in: This is the first time I have stayed at a mid-range or higher hotel over the course of traveling for over 20 years and at check-in they say they need to charge 5% extra for using a credit card. Not too many people carry the cash around to pay for their hotel rooms, especially multiple rooms/nights, and by far the majority of hotels absorb these fees as a convenience to their customers to secure payment. What is worse is that it was never mentioned in the payment details or confirmation from Expedia when I made the reservation (note that the description on Expedia has been updated since). However, not a good way to welcome guests with a 5% add-on surprise.
The rooms are clean and modern looking and the beds are comfortable and warm, but they definitely cut some corners and it shows. There were several safety issues with sharp screws exposed in the bathrooms. The paint is already peeling in the bathrooms which indicates they did not use a paint which resists moisture. The table attached to the wall feels like it could break off with any weight more than ten pounds applied to it. They used a piece of cut thin black fabric which may look okay in photos but looks cheap. Another issue is with the bathroom windows—windows where people can see in should have curtains.
Breakfast area is very nice with great views. Good food.
