Very nice hotel providing a quiet respite for us city dwellers. Hot spring bath every morning and night left us fresh and warm. Breakfast and dinner are sumptuous and nicely presented, reasonably priced. Friendly staff and courteous manager. The manager send and pick us up to and from station everyday. Save us a lot of time and energy. Email or call them from the Sounzan station for pick up especially when you arrive after dark, the route down the hill to the hotel is very quiet. Room is spacious and comfy.

natutal hotspring, remote location, serene view
The staff and service are awesome. This hotel is old and far from train, bus station. Every time you want to go to other place, you need to ask the staff to drive you to the train station. This hotel is good for people who want a retreat as it is in a remote area. It is quite and beautiful, surrounded by trees, mountain... There is natutal hotspring with beautiful view with a very small fee (150 yen). The only thing is this hotel is a little old. It is clean but there is odor.

Ryokan Stay
I loved my stay here. Great ryokan experience with friendly helpful staff, the food was tasty, the outside private onsen was delightful. It's a bit further outside of the town than expected but they have a shuttle service that will pick you up and drop you off. The facilities are dated but well kept and clean.

More than expected
More than expected for the price we paid. Service was 5 star all the way. The place is a little old, but kept clean and was comfortable. Onsen water was hot and relaxing. The meals were delicious. We were a little worried about this place, as I could not find much for reviews or information. We were blown away. Service was top notch, every time we asked for something they went above and beyond. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My husband and I are on our first trip to Japan and spent the first three days energetically traversing Tokyo. We headed to Hakone for a rest and to try the famed onsens and Hakone Loop. We arrived and walked the short (but uphill) distance .07 miles from the cable car stop at Sounzan to this onset. If you have phone service, they have a shuttle and will come get you from the station. The onsen itself is very secluded and quiet. Matsura and his staff is very friendly and very helpful. They speak English pretty well and were able to answer all our questions. The onsen hot spring bath experience is nice and they have many beauty products to sample while you bathe. Although we did not plan it in advance, Matsura and his staff were able to provide us both a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast, which were filling, delicious and reasonably priced. They have souvenirs for purchase as well. Although the decor is dated, both my husband and I felt very comfortable like we were visiting our grandmas' home. The room was immaculate and the traditional tatami flooring as well as the futons were nice. In short, we would recommend this onsen. Matsura and his staff do an exceptional job.

Excellent!
This may have been my favourite part of our visit to Hakone. It's a little out of the way, but it's worth the trip. The hotel has two private onsen, and yukata provided with your stay. Breakfast was Excellent- we definitely recommend. The staff was very friendly, kind, and helpful and we had no trouble with speaking only English. We would definitely go back.

Amazing introduction to Japan!
This hotel was our first real stop in Japan and it was perfect. Situated near the very top of the Gora funicular we chose to walk, although transfer is available. About a 30 min easy walk with nice views, it could be harder to find without a map. The staff where very warm and welcoming on arrival. We where, admittedly, pretty much noobs to Japanese culture when we arrived. The staff where incredibly kind, patient and understanding. They went out of their way to teach us how to use the Onsen, the futons. Even how to eat particular dishes. After our stay we felt well equated to go out into a new country and not look like complete idiot tourists. The food was delicious, all cooked fresh. Our waitress was lovely and, despite us not being able to communication well, taught us a lot about Japanese food. Onsen, I now know are the best cure for a long haul flight. This hotel has two that alternate between men and women. The larger has large glass windows into a beautiful view of the hills and trees. I can't say thank you enough to the staff and the perfect welcome they gave us to the country.

Cozy onsen
I had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again! Note: It’s a bit hard to get there from the station, a bit of a walk if you have lots of luggage would recommend coordinating a pick up in advanced. I just had a backpack so I walked it fine. The location shown on the map for the confirmation email is incorrect, just a heads up, but not far off from the actual location. The staff were wonderful! 10/10. I felt very welcome and had a wonderful time in the onsen. Everything was clean and tidy. The breakfast is traditional Japanese food and was delicious! Everything was kindly explained to me and tasted wonderful. Really a great value for the price!

Lovely ryokan with a nice onsen and traditional Japanese rooms - ours had both futon and Western-style beds. Very friendly staff with a good level of English. Peaceful location a short walk from the bus stop, free transfers to the cable car / rope way station. Easy to get to Gora and the volcano. Breakfast was also superb! Highly recommended.

Quiet, rural guest housey
A quiet, restful break from a busy sightseeing holiday that was made complete by evenings of hot, soaking spas and delicious, in-house japanese cuisine. An easy 10 minute walk from the Sounzan cablescar station. Our hosts were just wonderful.

Very cozy, peaceful stay in the Hakone mountains
We took a taxi from sounzan station to avoid the walk and don't think we'd have managed with luggage. Very steep roads. The staff went above and beyond, rushing off to finish cleaning the room up when we arrived an hour early. There was a shuttle bus available and for the rest of our stay we were delivered to and picked from the station. Gentleman driving the bus had ok English skills but other than that there was a lot of charades (we have very little Japanese language knowledge). We stayed as a mother and son but the room was probably better suited to a couple. Excellent view from room window. Important note: I have a full sleeve tattoo and this is the first Onsen I have been to that was ok for me to bathe. A big plus for me and an unexpected bonus.
