Everything about my stay here was seamless. It’s a newer property—it’s very simple, clean and on-brand. Harlem is quite busy and the noise can be heard on almost any floor. To my surprise, this was the quietest stay I’d had in a long time and this is coming from a former neighbor. Staff was pleasant and took care of me.

The room was good and spacious. The front desk staff and maintenance staff was pleasant and helpful. Noted the hotel has only been in operation for a few weeks, so there’s room for improvement. Couple of things to note - the sewage appeared to be blocked so every time we returned to the hotel, the water was murky, the toilet seat cover was broken, housekeeping did not refill shower gel and we had to remind them every day, there were no tea options (mint, herbal etc.) for the room.

The front desk staff was friendly, though upon arrival they informed us that we were getting one of their smaller rooms since we were only staying one night. I found this an odd admission and a puzzling justification, considering we were staying for two nights. The room was surprisingly small, even by NYC standards, and very cramped for two people. I never realized that a closet would be an optional amenity. It was clean and well kept. What I found most problematic was when a woman (who seemed to be the director of housekeeping) opened the door to our room and walked right inside a full hour before our checkout time. I can deal with cramped quarters and other minor inconveniences, but an invasion of privacy like that was inexcusable.

I simply needed a calm and quiet place to work. I specifically chose The George because its listings had large rooms with a decent sized desks, patio access, a small closet, and a mini fridge. I paid $780 for 2 nights. Room 210: No desk. No chair in the room. The Patio? Partially broken tiles. No seating or table, essentially useless. I ask if they have a roll in desk or a room with a desk. The front desk immediately get me another room. I go up to room 720 and see a desk but even less amenities. Small room, no mini fridge, no patio, no small closet (just 5 tiny button hooks at the door). The bed is positioned ~15” from the wall leaving a small passage to get to the other side. They probably mounted the tv in such an awkward place because of this. But they didn’t even use an adjustable mount so it’s flat to the wall in a way that makes it hard to use. Then to top it off, the 1st night there was no hot water at the sink or shower. The outlet at the sink mirror was not functional, so I had to fix my hair by the door where there it’s dark. No toiletries either. The hotel decor was pretty, there is potential but there’s no consideration for the guest which is what a higher end hotel is supposed to provide. As it is—genuinely— I feel like I was scammed. I wouldn’t return or recommend. (By the way there is also no pool, it’s very much under construction—not that I was seeking to use it but just in case you were looking forward to that)
