Staff excellent, brekky was great with plenty of variety, great location, it was just the room that lacked ventilation, a fridge and appeared to have a lot of mould around the window area from condensation

It was the best stay during my UK trip so far. The location being central to all the activities I wanted to do, their breakfast being superb, the kindness during any request I made and the cleanliness of the room. It was perfection the whole time. I’m so pleased.

Hotel is perfectly located on Princes Street with plenty to see and do within walking distance. The front staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast which I purchased a couple of mornings was great value with 2 kids. The room itself was disappointing- while the bed was very comfortable, the room was very basic and grubby.

8/10 Very good

Great location, cleanliness could’ve been better.

Location was great - 12 min walk from Waverley train station, directly on a large shopping street with all the buses and trams, a 15 min walk to the Royal Mile. Lots of cafes and fast food options right next to the hotel. Check in and check out very easy and quick, staff was very welcoming. Room was spacious. I question the use of carpeting for flooring as it’s fairly rainy in Edinburgh so it obviously gets damp and musty when you come in the room with your wet shoes and coats. It would also have been nice to have somewhere to put your suitcase rather than on the floor.

4/10 Fair

Our room seemed clean - but discovered that under a nightstand there was snot and "nosebleeds" from previous guests dried around the wall - so I assume the room had not been cleaned - when we informed the staff about the blood and showed pictures they did not think you could be sure that it was blood - our little child had fallen asleep so we could not ask for cleaning - but the next day after breakfast (here the service in the restaurant was top notch by the way) we asked the staff to clean the room - and we put all our things together so that it could be cleaned properly and hung a sign on the door - when we came home from our sightseeing the room had still not been cleaned - so we made the cleaning lady aware of it - she did not have it on her list though - so the service desk still had not informed about it. When we returned many hours later the blood and snot had been removed but the room had not been vacuumed or anything (so they had not cleaned anything other than the blood) and there was a folded towel with makeup on it, possibly our own, I had put our towels we had used in the morning on the bed - but it still could have been good service to give that room a total cleaning also with changing towels and more - there was also some candy wrapper trash that was not from us under one of the beds when we arrived. I have included a photo of the blood which was bigger than a man's hand

6/10 Good

Rooms were on the small side and had no amenities other than an electric kettle which I thought was odd for the price. However it seems this is typical for the area and this would be an average sized room. The morning staff was very helpful and accommodating. They went out of their way to make our early check in happen and I am forever grateful to them and applaud their level of customer care! However during the evening shift at the last day of the stay, a particular staff member seemed to care less to help arrange a taxi for my family to the airport which I ended up just doing myself. I never had a staff member at any hotel not jump at to assist in arranging taxis so this definitely left a bad impression with me that some may call petty but with the amount of travel I do, I can afford to demand some level of customer service. However one bad experience should not overshadow the good service which I received otherwise through the stay. Breakfast in the neighboring restaurant was actually very good and reasonably priced for the area. Speaking of the area, it’s location was perfect. Easy to walk just about anywhere or hop on a bus or tram and get there with ease. If you come during Christmas time, you will be in the perfect place for accessing the Christmas markets since they will be directly across the street from the hotel.

2/10 Poor

My flight was cancelled so I couldn't arrive at the hotel at the correct date. So I had to shorten my trip. But I was planning to use half of my prepaid (un-refundable) stay. I tried to contact the hotel through Hotels.com but didn't get any answer. I got in the information from Premier-Inn help-center that because it was booked through Hotels.com they couldn't help me. And if I didn't check in at the correct time/date my booking would be cancelled and my money lost. I had to stay at another hotel with extra cost.
