Hotel Varela has the MOST beautiful courtyard and rooftop terrace. I arrived and there were 2 towels and 2 soaps. ( I have never been given a towel in a hostel before!). The room was spotlessly clean (as is the rest of the property). There is a big functional kitchen and plenty of bathrooms so one never has to wait. The staff are friendly and helpful. I was a little worried about there being loads of noise/parties since it's a hostel but this is simply not the case. It is wonderfully quiet at night. Upon stepping into the property there is an incredibly peaceful vibe to it. The room is cute and homey. The bed is extremely comfortable and there's a massive cupboard for clothes storage. Although obviously dependent on who's staying the other people staying here whilst I was here and friendly and courteous (i.s it is NOT a hostel full of drunk youngsters...my greatest fear!!!). One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in in my life.
