Nice hostel
The staffs of the hostel were nice and English is good, they recommended the sightseeing places and restaurants nearby! The building is a traditional japan house, there was a Japanese style bathroom inside, the view of the room is the garden, and deers sometimes appear in the garden!

离严岛神社挺近的，就在背后，走过去7分钟左右。厨房，淋浴设施一应俱全，对面的菊乃家酒店还有付费泡汤。还有免费饮料，早饭。店家还将各种指示做的十分全面。总之非常好！

休息的好地方
當日下雨，我們黃昏才到民宿，褲及鞋都濕透，民宿主人好好人，借了吹鞋機及我們，半小時我們就把濕透透的鞋吹乾，好讓我們明天的行山到獅子岩行程可繼續。民宿另一特色是附近有很多神鹿，自由地生活，有些更到民宿的花園去吃草，牠們就在眼前吃個不亦樂乎，對香港人來說是很奇妙的事。

Friendly owner
I went to this hostel at about 2230 and I lost my way. When I called the hostel to ask for the way, the owner just told me to stay and came to take me to the hostel by his car. It is hard to forget for me. And when I left, the owner gave me a origami set as present. It's really warm.

There is a 15 minutes walk from the pier. It is not difficult to find, the building is quite easy to distinguish. The owner is very very kind, explaining every single detail we need to know for our stay. He even offered us travel advice for the next day even though we only stayed one night. We are also allowed to leave luggage after checkout. The owner trusts all visitors by offering self-help snacks with donation box. Be sure to be kind to him too. The interior is very well decorated. Every area has a strong Japanese feel. We need to prepare tatami ourselves, and it is actually easy and interesting to try. The Japanese style bathroom is clean and comfortable. The Japanese bathroom pool can easily accommodate two persons but a bit crowded for three. The Japanese style toilet is worth trying and functions quite well.

體驗日式生活的特色民宿
位近大成寺小街，位置不錯。全日式設計但西方hostel經營模式，相當特別。 我與丈夫住的房間景緻開揚，看到瀨戶內海和紅葉，佈置跟足日本傳統，就是間隔的屏風也用上和紙，細節一絲不拘，包括泡浸風呂和舖日式床墊的方法等，亦有詳細圖文介紹，令我倆有真正體驗日式生活的感覺，很驚喜。 不過值得注意的是，除了床位，就算房間也需要共用洗手間，不過一、二樓都有公用洗手間，很整潔，房內也設洗手盆，尚算方便。 另除地下公用廚房，二樓走廊亦備公用的咖啡機、水壼和基本食具，看出民宿主人的用心。 不過我最喜歡的，還是是民宿生活化的自由氣氛，地方大但好安靜，自由出入。就算早餐亦是很家庭式的自助形式，即廚房放了白麵包，有牛油果醬，雪櫃有鮮奶果汁，幾時食隨你，很有「在家」的感覺。 總括而言，很推介的日式hostel，非常捧。

值得推薦的旅館
這是一間家庭式的小旅館，由兩父子經營，房子是一間古舊的建築不過保存得很整潔乾淨，今次住的三人房，榻榻米，室内空調很好，大廳提供電腦，printer, 廚房有果汁，面包免費供應，廁所浴室亦很乾淨，唯一缺點是離碼頭太遠，大約要行15～20分鐘，晚上沒有什麼街燈會比較難找

A great unique family-run hostel!
The hostel is very much like typical European hostels, but in a really Japanese way. You can hardly find a similar hostel in Japan. We had a completed reservation but there was a technique problem with the booking system so we did not get the room we booked. The owners sincerely apologized and offered us a spare room without charges which I am very much appreciated. They then gave us great advice on sightseeing and eating. The owners are extremely helpful and they enjoy sharing Japanese culture with people. The son was teaching a French family Japanese and Chinese at night while later we chatted for aroudn an hour about the differences in our culture. You can have things (drinks, snacks etc.) in the common kitchen for free and you just need to put money into the money box on your own for some higher-valued goods like beer. The location is indeed a bit tough for travellers as it take 15 mins walk from the pier. You would definitely need a taxi to get there if you are carrying a luggage (around 800 yen). However, it is close to Itsukushima shrine. A very special experience. Thank you!

What a great place this was! If I visit the island again, I'll definitely stay here. The hostel has breakfast and drinks available in the kitchen and beer and sake for a slight charge. Thank you Junya, you were an excellent host.

Home Away from Home
Our group, a family of 9 from Hawaii & California, had a wonderful 2 night stay. The hostel feels more like an inn and is in a great location: on the other side of town, about a 15 minute walk if you know where you're going/have GPS assistance from the ferry. They have a wonderful Japanese bath and several other baths/showers. There are no convenience stores or markets on the island, so the frozen food ($3), sake/beer ($3), soft drinks and breakfast cereals/milk (both complimentary) were very appreciated. There are also a washer and dryer ($3/load), a variety of musical instruments that you can play, wi-fi and tons of travel literature. At the end of the dead-end street is a path that hooks up with the Mt. Misen Ropeway. There are floor to ceiling windows that look onto a small garden where local wildlife--deer and racoon dogs--love to visit (there's a resident indoor cat, as well). The private rooms on the second floor offer wonderful views of the town/water, and also have a sink and small refrigerator. The dorm rooms are on the first floor and are best for shorter stays, since the walls are thin. The owner/hosts are very respectful and accommodating.

Une atmosphère magique
L'ambiance du lieu est calme et à l'image de la beauté de l'île. Dans une maison traditionnelle, avec une grande pièce commune lumineuse et confortable propice aux rencontres, des chambres charmantes, des sanitaires très propres et surtout un magnifique jardin (avec en prime la visite de trois tanuki !), tous les ingrédients sont là pour passer un excellent séjour. C'est sans compter de plus la gentillesse du personnel et la proximité de la guest house avec le temple principal et la baie, qui permettent d'aller voir le coucher du soleil (ou lever pour les plus courageux) aux pieds du torii.

Réservez les yeux fermés, cette guest house propose un rapport qualité prix exceptionnel. L'hôte était aux petits soins (comme la plupart des japonais), souriant, calme et agréable. La chambre traditionnelle japonaise est un highlight de mon voyage : dormir sur un futon sur des tatamis est une expérience qui m'a semblé authentique... et très confortable. Les parties communes de la maison sont remplies de bric à brac, mais cela lui donne un certain charme. Enfin, la maison est construite autour d'un petit jardin, dans lequel on peut observer des daims et des "tanukis" (sorte de raton laveurs) sauvages ! Le thé / café est gratuit à longueur de journée, et un petit déjeuner basique est proposé (pain de mie, céréales...). La partie habitée de l'île étant toute petite, cette guest house est facilement accessible à pied depuis le port (10/15 min). Dormir sur place vous permettra de voir le torii flottant au coucher du soleil, absolument magnifique, et d'entamer une randonnée vers le sommet du Mont Misen tôt le matin pour éviter la foule !
