Repeat stay!

This was our second time staying at The commander. Great place, clean and a block from the beach. Great area and family friendly! We’ll stay here again!

Great place

Great location! We stayed for the White Marlin Open. The place was clean and convenient and was reasonably priced for Ocean City, MD.

Wonderful stay

The stay was wonderful. There was just confusion with the receptionist on the location of the room. It took us 30 minutes to locate the room. But we enjoyed our stay. I’d stay again 100% just hated there was no elevator to and had to carry everything up a bunch of stairs. But loved it felt like we were away from everyone.

Clean, good location, but pretty basic.

Stayed a couple nights over Labor Day weekend. Check-in was great. I called about an hour early (because we were there) to ask about check-in and was told the room was ready. It was a good place to lay our heads for two nights. Clean, good location (about right in the middle of the boardwalk), nice to have a fridge. But the room and bathroom is small and pretty basic. Overall, no complaints. But if you're looking for something more boujee, you should probably look elsewhere.

Last minute booking

The overall stay was good. Wasn’t to thrilled about paying parking. The rooms were clean just a lil small from the building they sent me too. The bed was a lil uncomfortable but other than that, this really wasn’t a bad place, since I waited to book a room last minute.

Alarm would not stop chirping

The room was great and next to the beach. I would give this 5 stars if the fire alarm was not chirping for 2 of our days and nights. We could not sleep for 2 days.

Great location and price.

Clean sheets, towels, bathroom, although carpet is old and stained and room is dated. Shower had adequate water pressure. It was cold at night but the a/c / heater unit worked and only smelled funny for about 5 minutes the first time it came on. Access to amenities at the main building was easy and convenient. Front porch with rockers is cute and a nice amenity. Would stay again. No elevators, so folks with small kids or disabilities should note that.

6/10 Good

The door to get into the inside pool didn't work. Had a tough time to get in. My microwave was cracked. At night even with leaving the bed rooms doors open and having the AC set low I was still roasting/ burning up when waking up. Wish the BATHROOM WAS BIGGER.
Christopher, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

Misleading

Too small for a king bed. Quarters were very cramped. Not a safe exit way. Stairway not easy to maneuver. No elevator, would have had to climb three flights plus the four steps to get into the building. Was told that there was guess laundry later to find out that it was in the other two buildings. Was not on the beach but was across a busy highway. Everything was wrong about it. Had stayed twice in the past and loved it.

Location, hospitality and service was great

Loved this place….don’t understand the bad reviews. Location couldn’t have been better. Gentleman at front desk was super friendly and quick. Check in was easy…had my room ready early. Bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping was great about coming and checking to see if I needed anything refilled. I have stayed so many places in O.C. from 3 star to 5 star and this will be a favorite. The only negative was the floor looked like someone had scuffed it up with a tractor, but that didn’t affect anything about my stay…I just didn’t want anyone to think I did it. I don’t even own a tractor. I almost didn’t go on this trip bc of reviews but so glad I did. Would definitely stay again.

Nasty and old.

Room and bathroom need a makeover. The bathroom looked like it was from 1970. The room stunk like mildew. Wouldn’t eat food in the room because it was so nasty. The refrigerator was disgusting, with brown stains. You really need to invest some money into the rooms at the beach house. I would not stay there again.
Deborah, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Okay for one night- but very small- Entry way to bathroom very narrow . The picture was misleading - thought we had a porch but our unit was on the side - with no porch . Also , could use a “chair” in the room . But nice to see the room updated and lobby area. We have stayed there many years ago I also thought it was “free parking” when I booked but it was not . I will give it a try again but in a cabana - not where we stayed
Patti, 1-night trip

Wont be staying here again

Room wasn’t clean when we checked in and we checked in late that evening there was leftover food in mini fridge and stains on bed sheets, beds are kind of stiff and room is very small

Commander hotel

Check in was super easy. Staff were very nice and friendly. Room was very small, but clean. Was expecting the room to be bigger judging by the pictures. 2 full size beds and a small dresser. Would have been nice to have a chair or table. Bathroom was nice and large. About half the size of the room. All in all it was a good place to stay. We lucked out and had great weather for the entire stay, so we only used the room to sleep. The pool was great and was very clean, but we were disappointed that it was only open from 10am to 6pm. It's not like they had lifeguards there

POOR STAY IN 1950'S MOTEL

THE ROOMS ARE SUPER SMALL ANS DATED! I MEAN 1970'S DATED! BATHROOM CLEANLINESS- HAIR IN THE SHOWER, PAPER ON THE FLOOR, TOILET SEAT FROM 1950! TERRIBLE! I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN THAT'S FOR SURE ! ... AND THE RATES!!! SKY RACKETING HIGH!

Sad

It was my husband and I 4th year wedding anniversary so this was the purpose of our trip. We were charged $42 for parking at the hotel on top of already paying for our room. We paid Over $40 for a pizza and wings only to have ants eat half of our pizza and then they decided the wanted to be in the bed with us.. Told the Hotel staff then they brought up a can of Raid and choked us out of the room. We were trying to get out of the room so they could spray but I guess they didn't want to wait a few minutes for that. The best part about this hotel was the porch with the rocking chairs. Check out was today at 11 but the cleaner was knocking on our door at 930 am . Won't stay here again. Ocean City a again disappointed this year. Next year we will go to a Delaware Beach.
