Flatters to deceive
Very grand exterior and of course with the title luxury hotel. It clearly leans towards corporate and wedding functions which is fine but to the detriment of the hotel. We ate in the bar first night where staff seemed confused. Our starters were left of the order and the food took an extraordinary long time to be served considering it was only a burger and club sandwich with chips. Breakfast although nice was a long wait, had a limited choice of juice and again there seemed to be a lot of unorganised staff. Our room was the biggest disappointment. It was at the top of the building and reached via very steep stairs. decor nothing special and the shower was over bath. The bath was high and seemed short. There was a slopping roof at the end so you have to play twister to get in. The shower head was low so even at average height I had to stoop to get under it and the water pressure was low. Not a very enjoyable experience all round to the point we did not look forward going back to the room. It seemed this is a spare room so not sure why I was booked into it. The hotel did not seem fully booked and there were several rooms available when I booked it. Maybe because I checked late or I booked via Hotels. Poor value for money. I suggest you request not to have room 9 if you book this hotel.
