The room we were given smelled so bad of smoke and this is supposed to be a smoke-free hotel. We requested another room. The beds are metal frames and not 'real' beds. The room had crumbs on the floor, the AC barely blew cool air and smelled musty, the trash cans in the stairwells were overflowing/smelled for our entire stay and the parking lot was full of trash.
The night we checked in, an ambulance and police cars arrived for a wellness check. The dispatcher message states that a guest was not seen in a week and there were maggots in the hallway for a few days. One of the managers opened the door to the room and immediately closed it due to a foul odor.
The second day, the fire alarms went off and we had to evacuate the building.
The 3rd day, the elevators didn't work.
When we checked out on day 4, no external company had arrived to clean the room where the body was found. In my opinion, that entire room needs to be gutted and redone since there were maggots everywhere. This hotel is an extended stay hotel and there appears to be a lot of guests that live there. They hang in the lobby, right outside the front door and all around the parking lot. We stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and it was ok which is why we chose to stay here again. It really declined in 3 years.
