Room was spotless, super clean. Problem I had was the balcony door did not close (due to the windy/cold weather) which was a bummer. I got my room exchanged within the hour when I requested. The front desk is super nice. The only flaw, sure the digital keys were nice but I like physical keys more.

Beautiful room with spectacular views. We had the corner king room and it was great. Immaculately clean. The front staff was terrific, very helpful. We interacted with Lavender and Audra and both were super helpful and pleasant. The check in process is a little funky as you don't get a "key" but you get a link to use to open your door. More of a hassle than it's worth. He kept texting the link to me (as the reservation was under my name) but I never got it via text, had to rely on a friend's phone to receive the link. Will definitely stay there again.

Booked within two weeks to come to NYC for my friend's birthday, who always wanted to see the Christmas lights of the city. As someone who previously worked in hotels in Sales, I had a perfect stay. The room was amazing! Loved that it had many plug outlets available for use, and the corner room had a panoramic view overlooking the city. We opened the curtains, and chose to keep them open for the duration of our stay to look out at the lights of the city at night. Loved using the keypad for room entry instead of trying to find and not demagnetize a room key. The only issue we had was getting the original digital key. Which leads to my next huge KUDOS for your staff. Audra, Rudy, and Jonathan where each amazing. Audra we first met when we got to the city/hotel early and asked to check our luggage until the room was ready. She was very busy with checkouts, guests, and the phones, but she handled everything with such graciousness and care. I have seen others including myself get flustered and bogged down in the chaos, but she took care of everything and owned the front desk. Rudy we met when we came back to check in. He was also amazing at helping us get into our room and get our bags when the digital key didn't send a code. He was so helpful and kind. We met Jonathan at 4 in the morning on our way out, and he had the biggest smile and was very friendly and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time in New York and stay at your hotel. Hotel is A+, the staff are GOLD STARS!

stunning room—design, style, views (wow!!!!), comfort, cleanliness. the hotel is an an amazing location—safe, so close to metro, buses, shops, restaurants. A very hip place in a a very hip location. Most gorgeous place I’ve ever stayed. We couldn’t have been more pleased.

Staff was great. Allowed us to check in early, held luggage, very helpful. Only complaint is housekeeping didn’t come to room and even when we alerted front desk to request housekeeping, they still didn’t come.

12/18 - 22/2025 My experience at Merchant was delightful, from my phone call with Ruddy to the moment I arrived. The atmosphere and ambiance immediately stood out as warm, inviting, and thoughtfully arranged. The room was cozy and spotless, making it easy to relax and feel comfortable. The staff members we met were accommodating and respectful, which contributed to the overall positive experience. However, what made the visit especially memorable was Ruddy (Night Front Staff). He was the first to welcome us, opening the doors with genuine enthusiasm and kindness. His hospitality was outstanding, pleasant, engaging, and delivered with real passion. Ruddy didn’t just assist us; he reassured us that safety is a top priority. We felt safe and excited to be there. Wow! This place is a dream. We had a superior king room with city views and it was absolutely stunning. Pics don’t do it justice. The staff was wonderful, perfect location, and I can’t believe how good the rate was. The lobby design is incredible as well. All around well thought out aesthetics and excellent execution. Can’t wait to stay here again.

I want to rate this hotel much higher as the staff was super helpful and friendly, the rooms and the entire hotel were spotlessly clean, and their rates are very reasonable for the great location. However, the pillow were some of the worst I have ever slept on. There is not enough Advil in Manhattan to fix my wife's and my neck from the unmerciful beating they took on those truly awful pillows. If the Merchant upgraded their pillows I would happily stay again and upgrade my review.
