Manhatttan was booked almost solid last night and I needed something less than a thousand bucks for a night before a flight out of LGA. Stayed at the HGI in Flushing. Long story short the front desk clerk Nicki went way out of her way to help me get my phone back from an Uber I’d left it in. Rooms were nice. Low cost. Nice place. Very thankful I stayed there.

The picture on hotels.com does not match the actual hotel. Misleading on how outside looks. Properties around hotel look like hell. Parking is a joke $45 valet. But once you park, if you take it out it is another $45 charge to park again. So uber or pay $45 every time you take your car out. I get it is NY but this is a hotel. They should have daily park rates and you should be able to use your car. This is not Manhattan and driving in area is not that bad. I would be more afraid to take an uber.

There was only one staff member at the front desk assisting dozens of guests who were arriving after their flights at LaGuardia had been canceled. For a hotel that primarily serves airport travelers, flight cancellations and the resulting influx of stranded passengers should be a foreseeable situation, and the hotel should be adequately prepared to handle it. The front desk employee did her best under extremely difficult circumstances and remained courteous throughout. Unfortunately, a reservation issue, compounded by the fact that her manager was unavailable, left her without the authority to resolve the most pressing problem: several guests had reservations for king rooms that were no longer available, yet she could not reassign us to rooms with queen beds without managerial approval. The result was an unnecessarily chaotic and frustrating experience, particularly for guests who had already endured canceled flights and arrived at the hotel expecting a smooth and efficient check-in process.
