The location was terrific, the hotel was very nice but our room on the 5th floor was very hot, despite it being cool outside there was no way to cool our room making it difficult to sleep.

The location is just perfectly in central Stirling. Our room had a view of the Wallace monument! A v short walk gets you to shops, restaurants, train station, bus station, library etc. For us it was luxury, comfy beds, plenyy space, welcoming foyer and people. We were half hour early for check in and it was no problem. Would have like to partake of their 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' s that are organised there

A disappointing stay. The appearance of the hotel room, was much worse than displayed on the website. The carpets in public areas were threadbare and badly worn. My room was very small and in need of refurbishment. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The windows in my room very broken and didn’t open correctly, so the room was way too hot!! No WiFi on my floor either. Won’t stay here again!! I asked for a room with a view and look in the photos what I got!!

The Hotel used to have a buffet breakfast which was so much easier and quicker quite disappointed about that. The staff were friendly and helpful just prefer the buffet breakfast

If you wish your room to be cleaned you have to ask at reception for this to be carried out on a daily basis.Overall room clean and tidy although tea tray was very sparse. Our stay was comfortable and staff very friendly.

Bra beliggenhet. Kort vei til alle severdigheter og kollektiv transport. Tilsynelatende fint hotell, men rommene var slitt og enkle. Bråkete vifte i bakgården. Sengene var litt harde, men ok. Dusj i badekaret. Alt i alt helt ok, men ikke verdt å betale mye for rommet.

The Golden Lion is an historic hotel in the heart of Stirling. Unfortunately, there is no WiFi in the guest rooms, and only a continental breakfast is available before 8 a.m. If you don't care about WiFi in your room, this may be the hotel for you. But WiFi in rooms seems to me like a basic necessity in 2026, and the hotel charges 2026 rates for its rooms.

Checked in on 9th July, first room 103 was smelling of human urine, went and complained, got moved to 356, this room is in the loft area, 2 velux windows with non blackout blinds, couldn't open windows due to noise from main street, room was red hot no air con, was given a small fan that really was no use at all due to high temps on the 2nights stay. No manager would come and speak to me and was given an email on day of check out to make a complaint, the complaint to this day has never been answered to myself. If i could have moved to another hotel in the area for the last night i would have,however the others in the area were fully booked on that night. Staff were rude and not nice to deal with. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone to stay.
