If you're planning a bit of sightseeing head to Glenkinchie Distillery— just one of the monuments located 12.5 mi (20.2 km) from the center of Edinburgh. Tranent has many other landmarks you might want to see such as Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.
Amazing mansion conversion into an event center and hotel. And there is even a lift to get you up to the top floor! Breakfast was generous and cooked to order. It was somewhat difficult for me to find using GPS. Needed to ask for help at the Tesco petrol station.

Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths.

This is a lovely place to stay. The staff are excellent, the location is near public transportation (bus stop) and its a nice half hour walk to the Royal Mile. It is conveniently near Holyrood Park and the trails to Arthur's Seat. The restaurant Abacus was excellent. The staff quickly fixed an issue in the bathroom sink which is the only reason I gave them a 4 on cleanliness.

We stayed at The Raeburn for one night on a recent trip to Edinburgh but wish we could have stayed a few more! The room was huge with lovely woodwork and a marble bathroom (the fixtures were top-notch with a huge tub, huge shower, double sink, and towel warmer). Our king-sized bed was very comfortable and there was also a large flat-screen TV. The elevator made it easy to get to our room and there was parking on-site. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in the UK (and I've been staying at quite a few 5 star hotels). The staff was professional, friendly, and accomodating. They def pay attention to details and ensure we have the best experience. Even provided me some of the best local recs and I was quite impressed (and this is coming from a foodie like me)

Nice people, nice breakfast - just nice! Not a central location - about a 20 minute walk to the Royal Mile - but we prefer the quiet to the noise of the more touristy areas and it's a nice walk. Definitely recommend.

One of the most fun hotels I've ever stayed at. In the states there are some hotels that will give you a warm cookie, The Brew dog gives you a beer when you check in. How cool is that?? The room layouts were great with a living space on the first floor and a loft for the bed. Why stay anywhere else?

Amazing, quaint hotel that also still serves as the Royal Scots Club. Located in a more quiet part of New Town, yet only a few blocks away from St. Andrews Square, Princes Street & Stockbridge.
Hotel atmosphere might be a bit too settled for families with small children or younger partygoers & clubberers, everyone else who is looking for a nice and quiet retreat from the hectic and tourist filled city and a friendly, personal staff should not get disappointed.

The space was unuque and beautiful. Definite old world charm. The staff was helpful with suggestions, and friendly. The common spaces were very nice. I would say the room is good for sleeping, but just be aware they are very tiny rooms. It was exactly what we needed, but if I wanted to stay at a place where I'd be in my room a lot I would probably choose something else. But since my room was just for sleeping I would stay here again because I liked all the other spaces.

This is a simple budget hotel with basic accommodations, but a great staff and services. The location is perfect--on a quiet side street but a 20 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the old town. The breakfast buffet is well worth the small extra cost; nice variety and well-prepared. The rooms are small but well-appointed and comfortable. The tea/coffee kettle in the room was a nice touch.

When we arrived near the end of time the kitchen was open, they arranged for our bags to be brought to our room and brought us directly to a table in the bar so we got to order in time. The concierge ordered a taxi for our early morning departure the next day and was very helpful. Everyone we met was nice. The room was clean and had a nice shower. Wish we stayed here longer.

For those on a budget, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is great value for money, allowing ample time to discover the area's key historical landmarks and cultural attractions, such as monuments that reflect its rich heritage. During this period, prices may drop, making it an ideal time for budget-conscious travelers to explore the charm of Tranent.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For cheap Tranent hotel deals, start by visiting the Dealsopens in new window section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel options near your travel date. To compare hotel prices and amenities, use the Smart Shopping tool available via the app, which could help you make informed decisions before booking your stay. Stay updated with email alerts or push notifications to ensure you don't miss any opportunities for savings.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find better rates for your stay in a Tranent hotel. If you're interested in unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalized experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we can suggest alternate dates that might be more budget-friendly to help you find a better deal.
Consider your location: Staying near major attractions or city centers can be convenient, but it often comes with a higher price tag. For more budget-friendly options, you might look for hotels in less central neighborhoods, where you can balance cost with accessibility to the sites you want to visit. Independent hotels located a bit farther out usually tend to be more affordable and can offer a more authentic experience.
