Centro Histórico
Lagos' Centro Histórico captivates with cobblestone streets winding past 16th-century walls and golden churches adorned with azulejo tiles. The haunting former slave market stands as a sobering historical monument while ancient fortifications frame stunning harbor views. Traditional tavernas serve fresh seafood and local specialties between historic explorations and cultural discoveries. Highly walkable streets limit vehicle access, making this neighborhood perfect for leisurely exploration. Family-run restaurants and waterfront cafés offer authentic Portuguese flavors while boutique hotels in converted historic buildings provide charming accommodations with old-world character.

Porto de Mós
Porto de Mós wraps you in a golden sand dream framed by dramatic ochre cliffs that practically beg to be photographed. This peaceful pocket of the Algarve offers the perfect escape from Lagos' busier spots with scenic coastal trails winding along the Atlantic. The Ponta da Piedade lighthouse stands watch nearby, while the protected cove below creates ideal swimming conditions for beach lovers. The neighborhood serves up fresh seafood at beachfront restaurants where you can watch the sunset paint the cliffs. Modern holiday apartments and villas with sea views make up most accommodations, though public transport is limited so having a car is smart. Beach season brings the area to life, but even then, you'll find plenty of quiet spots along the coastal paths.

Ameijeira
Ameijeira gives you the best of both worlds in Lagos—calm residential streets just a short stroll from stunning beaches. Walk to Praia da Batata or Praia do Pinhão for golden sands and azure waters without the tourist crush. The neighborhood feels authentically Portuguese with its whitewashed homes and terracotta roofs, perfect for travelers who want local flavor. You'll need to head into Lagos center for restaurants and shopping, just 15-20 minutes away on foot. Most accommodations here are upscale vacation rentals and private villas with pools, ideal for those seeking a peaceful home base with easy beach access.

São Sebastião
São Gonçalo de Lagos's São Sebastião neighborhood offers attractions including Monte da Casteleja Winery.
Praia Dona Ana
The Praia Dona Ana neighborhood offers attractions such as Dona Ana Beach and Batata Beach.

Learn more about Lagos
Beneath limestone cliffs, this Algarve gem invites exploration of its historic old town where narrow cobblestone streets wind between whitewashed buildings adorned with blue tiles. Climb to the clifftop castle for Atlantic panoramas that explain why explorers once set sail from these shores. Praia do Camilo and Dona Ana Beach offer perfect swimming coves framed by golden rock formations. Don't miss Ponta da Piedade, where boat tours navigate through sea arches and grottoes sculpted by centuries of waves. Summer brings vibrant nightlife to the marina area, while seafood restaurants serve the day's catch year-round. Visit the municipal market for local flavors, then join locals for sunset drinks overlooking the harbor where Henry the Navigator once planned his voyages.

Boavista Golf & Spa - Bela Colina Holidays
"The place is immaculate and well maintained. Upper level pool was a bit green and cloudy but the staff were trying to figure out the chemicals as beat they could to clear up the water. Still very swimmable and a temporary blemish. The Bistro food was far below expectations. Terrible actually. Very dry chicken strips in the Caesar (wouldnt be surprised if it was yesterday's dry chicken) and the service missed several dishes in the order. I'm still giving a 5 star review so long as you don't eat the food at La Bistro and assume they fix the water balance in the upper pool. Best to just shop at the local grocery store (7 mins away and they have everything you need) and cook your own meals in your own kitchen. Everything else was a beautiful oasis and we'd certainly go back again. Went with a large group with both adults and kids. Great times were had."
Lagosmar Hotel
"Charming, clean, and friendly hotel right in the center of town. I got in late and was able to get dinner easily a couple blocks away. Great for those who want to stay close to the old part of the city."
Cascade Wellness Resort Lagos Algarve by Domes
"Thanks to all the great staff as always. You know who you are - I've tried to list names but site won't allow me. You work in the bar and restaurant!! Football camp is excellent."

"Exceptional hotel! Amazing views, the pool is beautiful, the included breakfast was delicious and the staff are incredibly helpful! The beach is very close too! Would stay here again!"
The Editory By The Sea Lagos Hotel
"Beautiful hotel. Location excellent for access to beautiful beaches and the old town. Staff all very friendly and helpful."
NH Lagos Algarve Resort
"We most enjoyed these aspects of NH Algarve Lagos resort: easy and vlose access to the pool (we were in block C) and pool bar/food, the complimentary breakfast, restaurant options, and the beach shuttle. We much appreciated the beach loungers and sunshade already on the beach for us for just $12/day. We also enjoyed the beach NH restaurant. The tiles and decor of the hotel are beautiful. Carpeted hallways could use a refresh. Great location near bus stop, train station, and Lagos Marina. We loved that!"
Aqualuz Lagos by The Editory
"Très bien situé. Tu peux faire tout à pied! Tres familiale. je choisirai le même hôtel sans regret!"
Villa Doris Suites
"Good, not great. If your priorities are space and location, this is the place for you. Location was amazing as it’s just steps from a gorgeous beach and the boardwalk path along the coast. Additionally, the space was huge. But there were a couple of things that prevent me from absolutely loving the property. For one, I upgraded my booking to a room with a beach view/ balcony, which was an additional 300 Euros. The room was on the 2nd floor at the far end of the property so we didn’t really have the best ocean view, and I felt the extra price we paid was not worth it. Also, we couldn’t enjoy the balcony because the AC condenser was located outside right next to the balcony and it blew hot air right onto us, making it uncomfortable to sit outside. The concierge is only around 10 am -6 pm, and there were a few instances where we would have appreciated their help in the early morning. Additionally, there were a few minor things. No shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, did not receive new clean towels each day, no blackout curtains in the bedroom. We enjoyed our stay overall, but these small things prevent me from rating this 5 stars."

With the potential for prices to drop during these months, travelers on a budget can make the most of their trip.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For travelers seeking offers to Lagos, Hotels.com may offer opportunities to snag discounted hotel rates. By checking the DealsOpens in a new window section, you could find hotels near your travel date, and the Last-Minute Deals section may reveal special offers if availability shifts. For luxury hotel deals in Lagos, staying updated with email alerts is recommended to catch potential flash sales.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a better deal on your stay in a Lagos hotel. For those interested in unique accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalized experience and sometimes a better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price seems a bit high, we’ll suggest alternative dates that might be more budget-friendly to assist you in finding a good deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually cost more, but thanks to Lagos's excellent public transportation, you might find a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that's still well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there is often great value for your money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
