I'm rating this hotel based on it being a 4-star hotel. I would rate it higher if it were a 3-star.
This hotel rates as a quite good value for Muscat. My room had a small adjoining sitting room, so it was technically a suite. The room was clean and well-kept but dated. There is free parking out front. The location provides easy access to the expressway between the airport and most of Muscat which lies several km to the east. There are many business establishments within walking distance.
The minuses: (1) If your rate doesn't include breakfast, skip it. The breakfast here would rate on the low end for a 3-star place, but is off the 4-star scale altogether. (2) The cable TV system has dozens of Arabic-language channels from around the Middle East. Would it be so difficult to have a cable package that includes maybe one or two English-language channels? (3) The front desk people are quite friendly but not always well-informed. I got two completely different answers about airport transportation at two different times, and when I asked about a restaurant located a block away, the front desk person had never heard of it.
Overall: stay here for the value, the location and the friendliness, but don't expect a 4-star hotel.
