Be warned. This place is grubby. Cob webs, grime and overall revolting. The dishes and cups in the kitchenette were not clean. So we decided to wash the cups, however when we pulled out the scourer that they'd provided, that was also filthy. The bed linen was clean but the bed was not comfortable and the pillows were lumpy. We had booked for 2 nights but left after 1. The only good thing about this property is the location.

We had a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen. The stove didn't heat well, and the dishwasher didn't work. Bed mattresses were only fair, and doonas stained a bit. Chairs around the main table were quite stained, and living area aging carpet had some stains. Walls needed fresh painting and had some marks. The bathroom had some mould. And we spotted a mouse running round the main area on the last day!

Clean and spacious. Friendly and helpful staff. I couldn't open both of the belcony doors. When I asked the lady at admin, she said it was locked and she told she didn't have a key. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay and will return but make sure my room opens to the belcony.

I don't normally write reviews, but I make an exception in this case. We stayed for 2 nights. First night did not have a smoke alarm at all due to it being removed to replace the battery (fair enough), but then it was just not replaced! The floors and doors were filthy. Would not dare turn on the range hood when cooking dinner (after EVERY utensil was thoroughly washed twice!) for fear of the grease and dust mixture that was built up underneath falling into our food!! Paint peeling off the walls and ceiling. Some sticky substance (I presume food matter - I hope!) on the sofa AND ceiling. Don't even get me started on the mouldy bathroom!!! Yuk, will never stay there again. Absolutely disgusting! Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else that actually gives a crap about their paying guests.

We arrived at apx 12.30. I had called when I made the booking to request we could use the room from 12 o’clock. The room wasn’t ready. I explained we had a function to attend at 2 o’clock and had to get ready. We were give another room which I was grateful for. The room was definitely not clean. Bedside table had rubbish in it, the floor in the bathroom was dirty and the shower had mould and dirt on the floor. The carpet was stained as well. I did not expect this from the reviews I read. Disappointed!

The one-bed apartment I had was a good size, but it was very tired and quite sparsely furnished. The crockery in the kitchen was not clean so I had to put it all through the dishwasher before I used it (no cutlery holder in it). There were about 10 forks but very few knives or spoons. The cereal bowls were too small. I notified reception about bin liners being too small and no laundry powder and they did supply these, but I also mentioned half the lightbulbs in the lounge didn't work and the Fox cable channels weren't available and they did nothing about these issues. I was staying for 2 weeks so I thought they could have addressed these things or at least come back to me and explained any problems. It wasn't up to me to chase. There were notices in the room that sheets and towels would be replaced every 3 days - this didn't happen during the whole 2 weeks. I felt that I paid a lot for this stay and I was very disappointed with the standard of care. The apartment itself was in a good location for transport and it was good to have parking.

Don't ever stay here!

Would you stay in a room with blood stain on the carpet and they had to leave the windows open to try to rid of the urine smell as well as wet paint smell, I definitely did not! On checking in we noticed a few red flags....inaccurate description online pics are not what it seems, poor customer service (basically handed the keys and find the room yourself), scattered bags of rubbish left in foyer, apartment hallways and parking area, blood on carpet in lounge room and urine smell in bedroom. We walked into the apartment and looked at surroundings only to walk straight back out to reception to ask for refund. They offered another room but that too smelt mouldy. They contacted manger who refused refund, even Hotels.com tried to refund and yet still refused! Left me stranded as I then had to find an alternate accom nearby late in the evening. Should have taken photos but we were so disgusted.

Last resort

I arrived to check in and was told that I had been sent a email saying the room was flooded, and they had transferred me to their sister motel in Highett. I did not have a car and had chosen this accommodation on the grounds that it was on the Sandringham line close to my friend’s place. The room was not cheap, but convenient to my method of public transport so I had paid more than I normally would. The sister motel was on the Frankston railway line, and although only 6km by car away from the Brighton Appartments, a long way for someone travelling by public transport. I asked my brother ( who had a car) if we could swap accommodation for the night. He drove to the Buckingham in Highett, only to be told there was no room for me/ him! After ringing the Brighton Apartments, they eventually provided a room for the night, and although I’d been promised a $1Au deal on the buffet breakfast by the Brighton Appts, my brother was told it would cost him $22.50! Poor service, untimely notice, no due regard for potential transport issues And costs. Things promised by one source, not delivered by the replacement service organised. Left a bad taste in one’s mouth.
