We arrived to check in during the early evening hours. There was another gentleman waiting the the office area to also check in. He indicated that he had been waiting for 15 minutes for someone to show up behind the desk to check him in. There was a sign to dial 4 on the phone outside the office building for assistance. The phone was not working. It was not wired.
Once the host showed up, the gentleman explained he had a reservation for a 2 bed room. The host told him there was not a 2 bed room available and she could offer him a 1 bed instead. They exchanged words and the gentleman ended up leaving the hotel without a room.
As we were being checked in to our 1 queen bed room the host asked for a $200 deposit on the room and gestured to a small sign on the back wall. She explained we would be refunded the deposit if the room was left in good condition. We reluctantly paid for our room.
Upon entering the room we noticed that it was not in good condition to begin with. The cabinets were falling apart, the pillows did not have cases, there was one cover on the bed with no comforter, the bathtub had a black ring around the bottom, and the door looked as though someone tried to claw their way out. The bed was a double on a queen box spring and the window and door was extremely drafty. The tv did not work and there were no dishes to use. The only silver lining was the room smelled of bleach, which indicated it was recently cleaned, and the heater was functioning.
