Pleasant stay.

Pleasantly surprised as we went for WVU family weekend. This got us out of the campus and into the beautiful country. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Price was also reasonable. Surrounding area was just beautiful. Nice areas along the Cheat. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Surprised this place has so many bad reviews. Sure it’s a bit dated but that’s not really a huge issue in the grand scheme of things. Everything else was fine. People expecting 5 star resorts for 3 star hotel prices are stupid and annoying.

The property was super nice upon arrival. Check-in was easy and staff was eager to help. Getting to our room was fast, easy, and convenient. However, we had barely any internet/wifi service. We werent even able to watch an entire episode of a show because of the internet. It just continuously kept buffering. There was no refrigerator, no microwave.

When we checked in, i told the front desk about having 1 room reserved for the first night and 2 rooms for the second night. And that we wanted to stay in the same room both nights and have the second room close to us on the second night. But housekeeping knocked on our door the second day and said we were supposed to be checking out. I went to the front desk and they fixed it. I was also disappointed that the restaurant and bar weren't open for our entire stay. I used to go on golf trips and enjoyed the restaurant and bar.

Listed as a Lake'view' Golf 'Resort' and 'Spa', there was no view that we could see, nothing 'Resort-y' about the rundown, dated motel, and if there was a Spa we wouldn't have made use of it from the looks of the rest of the place. The parking lot/drive was riddled with potholes. The elevator wasn't operable. The entry way and front desk area was in serious need of a good cleaning. Our room was dated. There were spots for a mini fridge and a microwave but there were none. When we used our sink our feet got wet - the water leaked from the faucet to the floor. Other than that, it was an underwhelming experience. Not recommended.

Dated but potential

The hotel itself was very dated. You could tell the focus was on the golf course. The parking area was a mess with tons of potholes and sporadic lighting. There wasn't a lamp or sufficient lighting in our room, the coffee maker was dirty and missing a part. Any kind of painting or carpet upgrades that were done to the room were not neat. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the ad and price. I feel like there is a lot of potential based on size and location but the property is pretty run down. I did hear that renovations are happening. I could imagine it was once a busy family resort.
