Mixed Experience: Some Good, Some Not So
Overall I enjoyed my 4 night stay. The front desk staff are great (especially Ingrid) and I used the hotel's airport transfer which went smoothly both ways. Beds and pillows super comfortable. Clean. The hotel was way too noisy, however. I changed rooms twice and the hotel staff were very responsive to my complaints. However, I just don't think it's okay to have bassy music blaring from the restaurant speakers. The hotel really needs to do some testing of how their sound and PA systems vibrate through guests' rooms. The food at the restaurant was pretty gross. I had fish and chips. The fish was fine but the chips were not fresh but tasted/texture like they'd been reheated. The breakfast was a real let-down too and mostly frustrating: items would remain unreplenished for long periods until I requested more be provided. In a hotel restaurant where there are so many staff knocking about, it's really not good enough to let food run out and leave guests waiting. Another gripe was that on my first morning room cleaners carried around a Bluetooth speaker to play music. The music woke me up - I'd arrived late the previous night and had had two hours sleep. Again, just no sense of how noise affects guests. Finally, bedroom doors should not be left open while rooms are cleaned during the day; mosquitoes enter. I spent an evening catching and killing five mosquitoes which had been let in during the day. I stopped getting my room cleaned because I didn't want to play 'catch the mozzies'.
