I have never had a bad stay at a La Quinta. They have always been very comfortable and clean with great customer service. When i found there was a La Quinta near where i was traveling to I changed my hotel from staying at the Quality Inn. Now it could have definitely been the location, but I definitely made the wrong decision. Our customer service wasn't bad. However, it didn't feel welcoming. There was another woman who checked in before us. As we were entering the elevator she came off in a rush letting us know they gave her a key to a room that was already occupied. We headed to our room. At first glance it was good. Next thing we know we have someone trying to get in our room. It was the same woman. They had given her key cards to our room. She left the hotel. We were in a rush to get to our event so I didn't take time to examine the room like I normally do. After coming back from our event I started doing a quick exam. I noticed there was a thick pad under the sheet. I thought it was a pee pad in case a kid, or adult, has an accident. I flipped it over and was shocked to find a blood stained mattress that was being covered up by said pad. Rips and stains in the sheets too. I had no words. It was so late and we were very tired. We didn't sleep well and we were on the top of all the covers. In the morning we found more blood spots on the lamp and wall. Sorry La Quinta of Utica I cannot recommend anyone to stay here. I might actually try to get my money back on this one.

I went down to ask for towels because only two bath towels were in the room when we checked in and the front desk demanded old ones before he would provide more. I explained that he needs to look at the reservation and it was for four guests. He finally provided me the towels but I had to waste 10 minutes of my time.

For work, the location was great. Our toilet did run a lot throughout the night, which was annoying when you’re trying to sleep. And there was not enough towels in the room either, typically we find there’s four towels and four wash rags.

Broken glass mirror, holes in sheets, white lotion? on night stand, staff allowed guests to smoke outside of main entrance and the smell drew into the room hvac.
