It is a beautiful hotel. Only problem I had was someone on my floor had a dog and the dogs hair was in the elevator. Also I could hear the dog crying for over an hour, guess the owner was away. Tv didn't work but that was fixed immediately after I made phone call. No regrets. I'd definitely visit again.

Air conditioning was not working in my room. The service technician was nice. He tried fixing it for about 45 minutes and then I was given keys to another room. My new room had some black areas in the bath room that I assume were mold. If that was cleaned up the facilities would have been much more satisfactory.

One of the only two elevators was out of service and has been since our last visit in April. Stairwells were dirty and filled with trash. The restaurant is never open and the mask guidelines were not clear.

The staff was rude. The hotel was was not upkept. Only one elevator was working in a hotel that was clearly at capacity. If you booked a room through a third party and they could get more for the room they cancel your room and give you any room they choose. They are unaware of what inventory they have. Because they room they downgraded me to smelled like a pet had just been in it. So they moved me to a room that was supposed to be allergy friendly. But someone had already used the room. Majority of the guest were not wearing mask in the general public areas. And because I booked through a third party and wouldn't accept any room they canceled my reservation and didn't care nor offer to check a sister property to see if they could assist in other accommodations. The night personnel told me that they would just cancel the reservation. Without any assistance with finding another place to stay. This was at 10pm at night that I had to ride around looking for another hotel to accommodate me on my own. And this hotel was ranked high.

I know COVID has impacted things, but....the coffee in the room was terrible, so my husband went down to get a cup in the lobby. I've traveled extensively and never have seen a hotel charge for a cup of coffee from the lobby in the morning. Also, I needed front desk support at 10 am on Sunday morning and there was no one there, After 10 minutes, I had to track someone down from the kitchen to get help. Only 1 elevator working all weekend and it made a horrible noise. Both ellipticals in the gym not working, Place could use some attention to details.

Hilton Durham has definitely struggled in the past year. We travel to Durham 2 times per year typically and have stayed here previously. The rooms were clean, but needed maintenance (broken shower door, curtains down, missing outlet plate, wall covering peeling). We were there for two nights and had to move to three rooms due to the air conditioner being out (90 degree days!). The first night our room had no air conditioning and the second night we had about 30% air working. No offer to make adjustments to the billing or credit our stay in anyway. We also didn't ask - we were too tired from not sleeping. Staff was nice, but not proactive or able to manage the situation well. A disappointing stay that I'm guessing is an effect of the last year of very slow business.
