Our stay was disappointing. For starters, the electricity in our room was wired so that ALL of the lamps and overhead lights are on the same switch. The lamps cannot be used unless the overhead lights (which are harsh & horrible) are also on. So, you cannot read at night or enjoy your coffee by a gentle light. (Or allow one person to have their bedside lamp on while the other sleeps.) This is frustrating & makes it impossible to have partners on different schedules share a room comfortably.
Also, the emergency evacuation map on the back of the door is printed on glow-in-the-dark paper so strong that it illuminates the entire room. I don’t know if this is required by law, but I don’t recall having this issue at other hotels in Spain/the EU. It may have been exceptionally bright or made worse by the layout of the room not hiding it, but we struggled to cover it with a towel to dim it enough to sleep.
Additionally, the room layout was poorly designed. In the bedroom, the bed prevents the window from opening. In the bathroom, the privacy shade rests against the toilet (or, when you’re using it, your leg), which is annoying & gross.
Finally, we booked a room listed as having a furnished terrace. However, the hotel either didn’t give us the room that we paid for or they are claiming that the pool area, which was a walk from our room and only accessible during certain hours, is the furnished terrace. It felt like we’d been cheated or subjected to deceptive marketing.
