The beautiful view and comfortable beds were the only positives. The listing left out several significant issues. Check-in required passport details and selfies holding our IDs. The agency said this was required by Italian police law but did not provide the specific requirement when asked. The directions were unclear, and reaching the apartment meant a long walk and numerous steep, difficult steps. Getting to and from the apartment was challenging, especially for a guest with mobility issues and a pregnant guest. None of this was disclosed in the listing. The advertised pool was closed, with no mention of seasonal closure. The dishes were dirty, the shower leaked into the hallway, and the smaller bedroom walls were visibly dirty. There were no paper towels and only two tiny rolls of toilet paper for three adults staying two nights. On the morning of check-in, we were told a maintenance person would come the next day to replace the refrigerator. We were asked to leave the key if we went out, which made us uncomfortable. For a two-night stay, this should have been addressed before arrival or another accommodation offered.

DON'T STAY HERE: The good: view was great and unit was clean The bad: 1) the listing references the "charming village of Sala Comacina" THERE IS NO VILLAGE OR TOWN. There is nothing to see or do. Sala Comacina is a bus stop/ferry stop, with one nice small hotel, two average restaurants that are not always open and one small store that sells not even the most basic grocery needs. It is dangerous to walk from the unit to town because the road is so narrow and busy that you literally have to hug the guardrail. Bus system is good but almost no taxi/Uber and it is really expensive...if they come at all. Stay somewhere where there is a place to walk/shop/eat etc 2) The ad does not disclose that the unit is approx 150 uneven steep stone steps down from the garage/entrance. With luggage, this is. a very tough task (note: I am in good shape, work out with weights every day and ironically run stairs and it was still very tough). Directions to the unit from the garage were so bad a resident of another unit was kind enough to guide me and he had a really tough time. 3)THE WORST: NO HOT WATER: The hot water boiler was broken and was NEVER fixed our entire stay. I was told to go outside and fix it ..in a thunderstorm. I suspect it is broken often. On our last day they finally agreed to provide another location and I had to argue with them to at least provide a cab to get there.
