We stayed in off season. When we arrived at 4 pm, nobody was there. Another guest let us know the keys were just behind a flower box. Got in, lovely room, clean, with plenty of amenities. Good water pressure.
My only wish would be that they provide wash cloths, as well as towel racks or some form of hanging and drying our towels. There not a single hook or rack in the entire room. A simple fix, but certainly worth it.
I didn’t have much hope for the breakfast, not sure why, but it was Excellent, and the staff was attentive and kind. I would recommend this place, and imagine it is busy all summer long.

Stayed for one night on a coastal trip up north, although nothing to complain about regarding the property , we were expecting more for the price we paid. Breakfast was nice had a menu choice option of cooked dishes, the property still felt like a more up market B&B. Limited accommodation choices in the village and surrounding area likely allows for the higher price points.

Very close to the castle and beach, so that was excellent. Parking is very limited, especially around busy times like bank holidays (when we went). The staff were very friendly and very attentive at breakfast which was great, and the food was good. Our room (room 6), is in need of a little tlc and the walls are a little thin (I could hear the people in room 5 snoring!), but overall a very nice little set up. I would stay there again 😀

We were a bit worried considering some of the negative reviews, but we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Lovely fresh rooms with nice bedding and towels. The bathroom was spotless with upmarket toiletries provided. Great choice for breakfast which was well cooked and generous.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Storm prevented my trip. I was told a refund would be possible, then the hotel reversed and wouldn’t authorize the waiver through Expedia. I choose places that stand by what they tell guests.

Arrived back to my room to find the entire corridor had lost power no working sockets, meaning no TV, no kettle, no way to charge devices. Spoke to another couple on the same floor experiencing the same issue. Called the hotel and was told the nearest staff member was approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away in Edinburgh and to speak to reception in the morning. I ended up sitting in the breakfast area charging my phone, which isn’t exactly what you expect from a paid stay.
When I raised it, I was told the power had likely tripped due to the storm and that “someone must have plugged something in they shouldn’t have”, yet nothing was done about it despite them identifying the probable cause. I was also told that they’re “a guesthouse, not a hotel” and I was the only one who complained by quite a defensive member of staff the next morning and therefore don’t offer 24/7 cover. Interesting you’re charging hotel prices over a bank holiday weekend. You can’t market yourself as one thing and downgrade your responsibilities when something goes wrong.
Towels were also lacking and the TV had issues beyond the power outage by not being securely attached, I couldn’t use it anyway. The location and setting are lovely, but the service fell well short of what you’d expect for the price. A hotel (or guesthouse, sorry), should have basic contingency arrangements in place, especially over one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Awaiting a reply to get my refund, I would imagine others are too.
