Manseirou is a ryokan centrally located in the fishing port town of Katsuura. The ryokan is dated and much of the furnishings and amenities are old and fairly worn. Our Japanese-Western style room was comfortable, adequately sized and clean. Some of the furniture like the chairs and table were worn and stained, in need of replacement. The room's shower and bathtub were small and cramped which caused us to use the ryokan's furo (hot spring bath) facilities which are larger and provided a nice relaxing hot bath. As for the food, the breakfast and dinner (Japanese kaiseki style) meals were delicious and offered an outstanding variety of dishes. The ryokan's staff were courteous but had only limited English comprehension. Manseirou provides a fair to good comfortable accommodations at a budget price.

Extremely small bathroom. Toilet seat cover would not fully open to sit down. Mildew on shower curtain. Towels rough and extremely thin. Holes in bed sheet. Staff friendly and helpful. Old building. Food was good.

We were warmly welcomed to Manseirou after 4 days of hiking the Kumano Kodō. The hotel was clean and peaceful and the onsen was perfect for soaking away the soreness from the hike. We had an excellent breakfast at the hotel and a nice view of the harbor.

Great japanese style inn with classic breakfast and plenty of nearby tuna in this tuna fishing town. Excellent!

老舗旅館で久しぶりの宿泊でした。今回は朝食付きでお世話になりましたが、朝ごはんは安定のお味でした。なんといっても系列のホテル浦島の忘帰洞などのお風呂が楽しめるのが嬉しいですね。

This is an older property and maintained well. The staff were friendly and helpful even with language barriers. The food was delicious! The transportation and onsen were all good at both locations. My only complaints are the bathroom toilet area smelled and were bit pretty badly by mosquitoes at night. Otherwise, it was nice for a 2 day stay.

A peaceful seaside stay with warm hospitality.

Exceptionally kind and helpful staff. The set breakfast was a standout—grilled fish with a beautiful spread of side dishes. Clean and relaxing onsen with both indoor and outdoor options. Room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the bay. Bonus: separate toilet and bath/shower setup, which was convenient.
