Comfortable stay

Great location but thats where it ends
Overall I would not recommend this hotel and I am honestly shocked that it gets such high reviews. This hotel has a fabulous location but that is about the only great thing about it. The staff at check in was nice and helped us to get a room early (I had reached out weeks prior and asked about this). She stated the room was ready but we couldn't go up for 10 minutes so we had to eat breakfast. We had been traveling and didn't care about breakfast but had no other choice. In less than 10 minutes our room was ready. We booked a deluxe room and there was nothing deluxe about it. Our view was the pipes and roof over another building. The bathroom was fully glass which was not clear from the photos. It is awkward to lay in bed and the wall next to you is someone on the toilet. The room was small and very cramped. The listing showed cable but not a single channel came in. The hallways are dark and you can hear every noise from the rooms around you. If this hotel wasn't so centrally located it would be a 2 star hotel at best with some modern decor. As I was checking out I asked for a receipt which could not be provided. A large group was checking in and advised that due to the weather warnings their rooms had been given away. 16 people were standing there with no where to go and it was quickly obvious that this is a regular occurrence. I worked front desk at a hotel prior and the way the staff handled this situation was far from professional.

Oppholdet på isand var spennende og fint.

Probably won't stay again
I normally stay at Kea Apotek but tried this one. I found the bed setup uncomfortable with the leather pillows. The shower was designed weird. The room was either way too hot or too cold. Breakfast was super busy and the layout was awkward. The safe was way up high. It just felt like whoever designed it didn't think about functionality.

Terribly disappointing and substandard. Several issues raised and none resolved. An example was being in Iceland in December, heating in your room is rather important, one bedroom radiator didn’t work and the other one whistled very loudly constantly. Receptions attempt to resolve this was to downgrade our room from a Junior Suite to a standard room but offered no finance reimbursement for the downgrade. When we told them this was unacceptable they promised to get Maintenance to investigate which they might have done whilst we were out but they certainly didn’t achieve anything.

Great location. Mediocre hotel.
Hotel is in a great location. Although the lobby is decorated well the rooms are a little worn. Plastic shower curtain did not stop water going over room. TV did not work. Iron was provided and good selection of toiletries. Spa access is an additional cost. This is not clear when booking through hotels.com. First receptionist was condescending and rude and stated that we would not expect laundry to be done for free so why would we expect access to the pool to be free. The cost for the size of spa and facilities is high. Basic gym and small pool and sauna. Second receptionist when we went back to ask of cost, let us have access for free due to confusion.
