The hotel isn’t bad in and of itself, but for the price we paid, I was incredibly underwhelmed. I will start out by saying that the staff was excellent. We did have several issues, but they made sure to offer what they could to fix the situation. So that’s what kept it at a 3 star stay.
To start we were assigned a handicap room that we did not request. When asked, the staff could only say that it was what was available (though we booked it over a year in advance.) They offered to move us to another room the next day, but we had already unpacked everything and didn’t want the hassle.
One day our room was not cleaned well. The bedding (which was supposed have been changed) had stains on it and the bed was haphazardly made up. There was a big ball of hair left in the bathroom. Again, the staff was highly apologetic and the head of housekeeping came in to clean personally. They also compensated us with a free breakfast. (Though it was not noted and we had to explain during checkout why we shouldn’t have been charged for it.)
Lastly, there was a planned outage so service could be done on the lighting system (or something.) This was known about in advance but no warning was given. So my mother, who stayed at the hotel while I went to a conference) was without lights for six hours.
So while the hotel is fine and the staff are great, I expected a lot more for the price we paid for the room. It was not a luxury/boutique experience.
