We traveled back to the airport area from a resort in the Quepos area, arriving around noon. Our flight to Los Angeles left at 1:30 am the next morning, we decided to get a hotel room that we would use for about 10 hours where we could rest up while waiting for our flight. We selected the Wyndham Herradura because it was close enough to the airport and had a free airport shuttle. I called the hotel to reserve a spot for the 1:30 pm shuttle and waited in the exact spot for nearly an hour and it never showed up. I called again and the front desk clerk promised me someone would be there. They did show up in about 20 minutes, but that is really annoying and shoddy service that we didn’t experience at another hotel in the area when we flew into Costa Rica. The lobby is very nice, lots of comfortable seating and food options. The front desk was pleasant but not terribly helpful with some questions we had, again in comparison to the other hotels we stayed in while in Costa Rica. We found our room and as we walked down the hallways, we noticed the badly chipped paint all along the hallway walls and the shabby, worn out carpeting. Far from the polish of the lobby. The room is small, which is ok, but the mattress felt hard as if it was made out of wood with a bit of padding. Glad we didn’t actually have to sleep on it. The bathtub was sloppily patched up, looked dirty. We went to sit at the pool…only 2 cheap old plastic chairs. Clean up the place and respect your hotel guests.
