Very comfy bed. Close to town centre.

Friendly helpful staff. Good position in the town. But couldn't offer any catering other than breakfast as the chef had left.

Hands down best place ever.

I have truly enjoyed my experience at the bushel. Josh, Peter, Dawn and other employees went above and beyond their duties. Our 4 days at the Bushel felt like a home and we are actually sad to leave everyone. But it was not a goodbye because we will definitely be coming back and seeing everyone again. This was the best experience we’ve ever had being away from home. We love you guys.

The food wasn't very good

8/10 Very good

A characterful pub/hotel in a lovely street (with bunting) that’s full of interesting small shops. Like many pubs these days, it’s tired but v. clean and they’re clearly trying cosmetic improvements : modern wallpaper, curtains, etc. Staff are charming and welcoming. Parking was fine - directions to small pub car park were simple to follow. Good atmosphere (Friday night) but nice and quiet in our room. Meal was nicely presented - but much more curry sauce, please, and pastry on meat pie was too thick. Cooked breakfast was excellent - but croissants should really be warm and freshly baked or just stick to Danish pastries. More info about local beers in the bar would be good (!) Otherwise, the location is perfect : minutes from shops, museum and cathedral. All worth a visit. Thanks for a pleasant stay but some more basic updating IS still required, eg carpets, grouting, sanitary suites.

Staybury

Clean room , very helpful staff. Decent breakfast. Room 2 has very thin walls. The next door neighbour was on her phone for hours and we could hear every word she said.

8/10 Very good

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Bed was very comfortable and room was lovely, with a huge window, though the room could use some updating - just one spotlight bulb in the ceiling and then lots of lamps around made it quite dark with the curtains closed; no usable plug sockets by the bed (wont bother everyone, but it was awkward for me); and the TV was small and not internet enabled. Just silly issues, but it's the kind of thing I would have found annoying if I was staying longer than a night. Would definitely stay again though.

Enjoyable stay at The Bushel

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Bushel and it was in a great location, very near to the town centre. Obviously an old building but Green King have done the perfect renovations and updates on the rooms, it was very comfortable. Our room was light and airy, the ensuite bathroom left me with bathroom envy with its full size shower cubicle. Liquid soap and shower gels provided and the bath towels were massive and fluffy. Our bed was a bit soft and the pillows a bit hard but we find this in many hotels but it was okay for a couple of nights. A kettle and tea tray was also provided. Being a pub with hotel rooms, the food choices were good and tasted great and the breakfasts were wonderful. We would definitely stay here again if we visit Bury St Edmunds. Have to also mention the staff, they are all very lovely .

6/10 Good

Very concerned about state of one of food service staff, decided not to eat at The Bushel at all, not dinner and not breakfast. Fortunately, there is a good cafe nearby for breakfast. For the record, the stay was greatly spoiled by atrocious state of 'townspeople'.

Great place to stay in Bury, great breakfast free parking comfy bed and superb shower The staff are very helpful as well Only fault is the room is beyond dated and to be honest dirty, really needs an overhaul

Bedroom was clean but black mould growing in some areas of the shower tray (corners) in the bathroom needs a deep clean.

We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Bushel Inn. The accommodations were simple, but lovely. Right in the heart of the town..a perfect location to walk to everything. Staff was wonderful and friendly. Would highly recommend!

Basic but comfy

Very friendly service. Hotel rooms are very dated and basic. Bed was comfy but was woken at 6am for the beer delivery which was very loud.
Natasha, 1-night trip

Room 5 is very dated, stains in the chair in the room. Air conditioning unit placed on a storage crate. Carpet worn in places.

4/10 Fair

Awful room

A comfortable bed but everything else about the room was dire. Black gunge all around the shower edges Only two dim ceiling bulbs working Nowhere to charge a phone by the bed (not a single plug socket) Walls with holes and missing plaster Nasty black stains in the toilet bowl Worn and smelly carpet A sharp edge on the shower tray that gouged my ankle Walls as thin as cardboard Plus I arrived back after the theatre and the pub was closing up. I managed (just) to bang on a window and get someone to let me in. Five minutes later, I would have been left on the deserted street with no way in. No-one told me what or if there was an out-of-hours at arrangement
Rebecca, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

POOR!!!

Carpet was worn and dirty Dusty skirtings Toilet stained Mold round shower door Curtains don’t provide privacy on windows for a ground floor room looking on to car park Room was illuminated green all night from emergency light fitting Wall paper thin can people’s conversations in adjoining rooms till gone 1am Service at breakfast and check was great but food was poor, bacon was grey and looked like it had been cooked a week ago and burnt on one side reheating it. Sausage was anaemic and looked under cooked. Toast was rock hard!

The Bushel staff were so friendly and helpful and allowed us a slightly earlier check-in to attend my daughter's wedding. The location of the hotel was perfect in the centre of Bury St Edmunds with the addition of free parking. The breakfast was good and the portions excellent. We had drinks at the bar & all the staff we dealt with were great. Thank you for providing a very comfortable stay in Bury St Edmunds.

Great location

Friendly helpfull staff. Comfortable & clean in need of a bit of TLC . Shower looked good but didn't use it... my fault as I was put off by large window in bathroom which had a net curtain, I didn't notice till too late the blind! Very good location for town, cathedral/gardens & Apex. Got car in their car park which is small not sure where you would park if no spaces.
