The hotel staff went above and beyond helping us, even after we checked out and had to make it to the airport for a late flight. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel, though the V&A area is a bit of a hike - took us about 25 minutes. Breakfast is delicious.

KLM fed me some poisoned breakfast on the 2nd leg of a 3-legged dog, 32 hour journey here, leaving me vomiting from both ends on the flight from AMS to CPT. This gave me the perfect excuse to do what I came here to do - absolutely nothing. I'm going into day 3 of a 4 day stay and have only left the hotel once to get anti-acid from the store down the street. I just wanted to come here to say I went to Africa. I dont want to annoy a lion or try to bury some white guilt in visiting Nelson Mandela's...

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Cape Town
Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Cape Town on a budget is an affordable adventure, especially during the months of June to August when hotels often offer lower prices. A stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended to fully appreciate the city's rich landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions, including museums, sightseeing tours, and shopping areas. During this time, prices could drop, making it a great value for money destination for those looking for a budget-friendly experience.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For Cape Town travelers, start by checking out Hotels.com's Dealsopens in new window section where you may discover discounted hotel rates near your travel date. Additionally, the Last-Minute Deals section could help you find flash sales and special promotions. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you're more likely to see updates on room availability and price drops. Plus, the Smart Shopping tool in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you make an informed decision for your last-minute getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your Cape Town hotel stay. For those seeking unique experiences, boutique hotels may offer a more personalized atmosphere and potentially better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll indicate if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be higher, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually come with a higher price tag, but thanks to Cape Town's excellent public transportation system, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further out that's still well connected. If you're interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods—or even nearby, lesser-known cities—you often tend to find excellent value for money. Choosing these alternative destinations may offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
